Battletoads is our NSO Game of the Week, and this one is a true Nintendo classic. Released on the NES in 1991, it became famous for its fast paced variety, cartoon style, and one of the most intense difficulty curves in gaming history. Tonight we look at what made Battletoads so memorable, how it mixed beat em up action with racing and platforming, and why it has remained a staple of retro gaming conversations for more than thirty years. We also dive into its development at Rare, the origins of the Battletoads characters, the wild level design, and how the game earned its reputation as one of the hardest games ever made. Plus, we will ask the community the big question, what would you review Battletoads at today?
