Top Golf Course Designer Bill Bergin joins me in this segment of the show.

Bill updates us on what's going on with several of his course design and restoration projects like The McLemore, Waterfall, and Oaks Country Club, which is down the street from this week's PGA Championship at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bill gives me advice on how to play McLemore since my buddies and I are headed back there this week for our annual golf trip. McLemore is an award-winning design and the 18th hole has been named one of the Top 10 Finishing Holes in all of golf. We also hear about his experience playing in the 1984 Open Championship at St. Andrews when he finished 14th and his 3rd round 66 was tied for the best round of the tournament.

He talks about being paired with Matt Kuchar and Louie Oosthuizen in the first two rounds. We also hear about the practice round he played with Louie and Rory McIlroy and how far Louie outdrove Rory. We get some great chipping tips including set-up, ball position, and club selection. Scott Verplank shares his memories of playing in the 2007 PGA Championship at Southern Hills, the site of this year's PGA. The '07 tournament was played in August in heat that averaged 100 degrees each day. He talks about trying to survive that heat and being in the final pair with Tiger Woods in the 3rd round. We also talk about his success in the 1985 Walker Cup, the 2002 and 2006 Ryder Cups, the upcoming Regions Tradition which is a major on the Champions Tour, broadcasting at next week's PGA Championship, plus a whole lot more.

Fred Lynn, Major League Baseball Legend & Single Digit Handicap, Joins Me... May 07, 2022

One of the all-time greats on the baseball diamond Fred Lynn joins me in this special edition of Next on the Tee.

What stands out about Fred during our conversation is his enthusiasm and optimism...and you know how much I love that. We hear about how he started out as a 4 sports star in college playing football, baseball, basketball, and running track. How he actually started his college career on a football scholarship at USC. He discusses his transition to focusing on baseball as a CF and Pitcher. Helped USC win 3 straight College Baseball World Series. He tells the story about their incredible comeback down 7-0 in the bottom of the 9th to the University of Minnesota, who had Dave Winfield on the mound, and winning 8-7. We also hear about the 1975 World Series, the Red Sox trading him to the Angels, teaching himself how to play golf, the fun he had playing golf with Jim Rice, and the plea to his old college football teammate Lynn Swann to get him on at Augusta National.

Fred was so much fun to talk to. I hope you enjoy this segment as much as I did.
