In Acts 15, the early church faces a significant conflict as Jewish and Gentile believers disagree about what is required for salvation. What begins as a serious theological dispute becomes an opportunity for the church to model how followers of Jesus can handle disagreement in a way that honors God and protects the unity of the church. By addressing the issue directly, seeking wise counsel, and ultimately turning to God’s Word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the leaders arrive at a solution that preserves the truth of the gospel and strengthens the church. This passage reminds us that when conflict is handled God’s way, it can lead to deeper unity and encouragement among believers.

In Acts 10, we see a powerful picture of God’s plan to bring the good news of Jesus to everyone. Through the intersecting stories of Peter and Cornelius, God shows that He is always at work behind the scenes—often in ways we cannot fully comprehend. This passage invites us to surrender to God’s plan even when we have doubts and to trust His leading in our lives. Our role is to point people to Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to do the transforming work in their hearts.

Saul’s encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus stands as one of the most powerful stories of transformation in Scripture. Once a fierce persecutor of Christians, Saul’s life was radically redirected when Jesus revealed Himself, turning an enemy of the faith into one of its greatest messengers. While some faith stories unfold in dramatic moments and others develop quietly over time, every life changed by Jesus reflects the same miraculous work of His grace. Saul’s story reminds us that no one is beyond God’s reach, and when we respond to His voice with faith and obedience, He transforms us and invites us into His greater purpose.

The book of Acts shows us that the Holy Spirit is still actively guiding ordinary believers to share the message of Jesus in everyday moments. In Acts 8, we see how God used Philip’s willingness to follow the Spirit’s prompting to reach one person, reminding us that God’s mission often unfolds through simple obedience and intentional conversations. It challenges us to reflect on how the Holy Spirit might be leading us to take our own next step—whether that means placing our trust in Jesus, stepping out to share our faith, or following Him in obedience through baptism.

God doesn’t waste our pain. He uses our suffering to display His grace and purpose. Through Stephen’s story, we see that when we rely on the Holy Spirit, we can stand with courage even in opposition, trusting that God is near in our suffering and working through it to grow His Church. What looks like loss or tragedy can actually become part of God’s bigger plan to shape us into Christ and spread the gospel.

Just like the Super Bowl highlights a few players while dozens work faithfully behind the scenes, the church only thrives when everyone steps off the sidelines and uses their gifts to serve. In Acts 6, the early church faced growing pains and discovered that when each person stepped into their God-given calling—listening to needs, sharing responsibility, and serving where they were gifted—the church grew stronger, healthier, and the gospel spread further. The invitation for us is simple: don’t just attend church, get in the game, because when every part of the body serves, God multiplies the impact.

The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live boldly, not blending in but standing out so the world doesn’t miss the message of Jesus. Through Acts 4, we see that boldness flows from being with Jesus—expressed in courageous testimony, fearless prayer, and generous, sacrificial living even in the face of opposition. As we spend time with Jesus and remain filled with the Holy Spirit, God calls us away from comfortable consumption and into courageous contribution for His mission.

In this weekend’s sermon, we continued the story of the early church living out their faith in everyday life. As Peter and John head to the temple to pray, God uses them to bring healing to a man who had been lame from birth—drawing a crowd and creating an opportunity to share Jesus. Acts 3:1–21 makes it clear the miracle isn’t the main point—Jesus is. Peter redirects the attention to Christ, reminding everyone that the power comes through faith in His name. This passage calls us to live with obedience and availability, staying open to divine interruptions, continually checking our hearts, repenting, and finding true hope and refreshment in Him as we live a “follow me as I follow Christ” kind of life.
