Cultivating Physical Mediumship with Robin Foy (1943 - 2022) (4K Reboot) Aug 13, 2026

The late Robin Foy is possibly the most experienced and successful organizer and promoter of physical mediumship circles in the last century. He is the founder of the Noah's Ark Society as well as the Scole Group. He is author of In Pursuit of Physical Mediumship and Witnessing the Impossible.

Here he describes his current project of establishing a center for the cultivation of physical mediiumship at a property near Antequera, Spain. He also reviews the history of his pursuit of physical mediumship starting in 1973 when he joined a circle dedicated to this work. He shares many highlights from his experiences over the past 48 years – including spirit materializations, levitations, apports, teleportation of animals, independent or direct voice, and guidance through mental mediums. He reflects on his work with the Noah's Ark Society and the revival of physical mediumship.

Chris Niebauer earned his Ph.D in cognitive neuropsychology from the University of Toledo, specializing in left- and right-brain differences. He is the author of The Abstract Mind: How Thinking Became the Source of Suffering—And How to Break Free, the bestselling No Self, No Problem: How Neuropsychology Is Catching Up to Buddhism, and its companion workbook. He taught consciousness, mindfulness, brain lateralization, and artificial intelligence for 22 years as a professor at a Pennsylvania state university.

In this conversation, Chris explores the philosophical foundations of his new book, The Abstract Mind, drawing on William James's concept of vicious abstractionism and Alfred North Whitehead's fallacy of misplaced concreteness to examine how thinking itself can become a source of suffering. Building on the insights of No Self, No Problem, he considers the distinction between consciousness and thought, the role of affective neuroscience and embodied development, and why direct experience may offer a path beyond abstraction. Along the way, he reflects on artificial intelligence, contemplative practice, and what it might mean to come home to the immediacy of lived experience.

Bruce Greyson is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia. He is author of After: A Doctor Explores What Near-Death Experiences Reveal about Life and Beyond, co-author of Irreducible Mind and co-editor of The Handbook of Near-Death Experiences.

Here he provides an overview of his half-century of investigation into NDEs. He describes his initial encounter with Raymond Moody as well as the creation of the International Association for Near-Death Studies. He examines the question of the evidentiality of NDEs for postmortem survival. He highlights some of the most interesting cases he has explored.

Ike Baker is an author, lecturer, and independent scholar specializing in Western esoteric traditions. New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). He is also the Grand Prize winner of the 2021 Bigelow Institute essay competition regarding the best evidence for survival of human consciousness after permanent bodily death. He is Co-Director of Parapsychology Education at the California Institute for Human Science.
