The stories were documented in 1888 by town historian William Little and include stories of spectral attacks, incredible feats of speed and strength, and dastardly deeds conducted women of the town. Welcome to New England Legends From the Vault – FtV Episode 178 – Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger search for a vampire buried in a tiny family cemetery in Cumberland, Rhode Island. In February of 1796, the father of Abigail Staples petitioned the town to exhume her body and perform some experiments in an effort to save his other daughter, Lavinia who was dying from consumption. Some believed if Abigail was indeed a vampire, perhaps they could break the spell to save Lavinia. This episode first aired February 6, 2020

The Haunted Ship of New Haven Harbor Jul 16, 2026

In Episode 455, Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger explore New Haven Harbor in Connecticut, searching for a haunted schooner named the "Robert P. King." Back in 1896, the story of the haunted ship made the newspapers. The ship's Captain, Parker Hall, claimed to hear voices, and said he couldn't keep a crew on board a haunted ship. However, we uncover Capt. Hall hid a deadly secret.

Hunting a Dire Wolf in Vermont Jul 09, 2026

In Episode 454, Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger hunt the woods of St. Albans, Vermont, searching for the site where Lawrence Brainerd shot and killed a legendary wolf that was terrorizing the region back in 1839. Today a monument stands in a remote section of the woods where the mighty beast fell.
