    Nature vs Narcissism

Nature vs Narcissism is a true crime/comedy podcast based in Cincinnati, Ohio where Heather and her guests discuss true crimes and the narcissists who commit them. Sometimes we have alcohol and sometimes things get weird. Relaunching on our 4th PodBirthday (Oct 22, 2021), the structure changed a lot. Every episode is different and every episode is entertaining! We will delve into whether we think nature made the criminals commit these heinous acts, or if it’s simply their narcissism getting the best of them. Keep in mind, this podcast is strictly for entertainment purposes and is in no way a professional diagnosis of the subjects discussed.

When Heather Saul opened her Charleston, WV door to greet the stranger she’d agreed to meet through an escort ad she had placed, she knew instantly she was in mortal danger. The man said just three words – “Live or die” – then held a gun to her stomach. The man grabbed Saul by the throat and dragged her around the house, until in a rush of pure adrenaline and an effort for self-preservation, she was able to get control of his gun and shot once, killing him. In this special collaboration episode, Heather sits down with Moxie from the Your Brain on Facts podcast to discuss serial killer Neal Falls. Heather was an escort and Falls’ next intended victim. That is, until she killed him instead…potentially saving dozens more. Falls is believed to have killed across 8 states and traveled with his kill kit in his car. He would dismember the bodies and dump them in rivers as well as on the side of the highway. This episode is filled with shenanigans as dad and Ashley return for more crime & more stories. We recorded in the dining room as per the usual but we didn't wear headphones. At times, we couldn't tell how loud we were, so I tried adjusting and taking out the table bumps. After about halfway through, dad realized the error of his ways and backed away from the table. That didn't stop him, however, from texting during the entire "broadcast" - so you'll hear his phone in the background. We talk about everything from dad's experience at the police department, to our childhoods, to current crimes in the news, to theories about cases and crimes. This was a fun episode with a ton of shout outs! Dad wants to come back for future episodes but would like questions or case suggestions...so, send them in!Shout outs:Based on a True CrimeGetting OffOff The CuffsThe Brothers CommonplaceStatus: PendingPromo:Trace Evidence Support us & get cool stuff!https://www.patreon.com/NVNpodcastFind us on all the things:@naturevsnarcissism (Instagram)@NvsNpodcast (Twitter)@naturevsnarcissism (Facebook)Nature vs Narcissism Facebook Discussion GroupBUY COOL SHIT:https://naturevsnarcissism.threadless.com/

In the FINAL letter episode of Season 1, Heather and Rachelle discuss the Zebra Murders aka The Zebra Killings. The best way to describe them is via a direct quote that we found here: https://blog.sfgate.com/crime/2013/03/13/zebra-killer-denied-parole/. The Zebra Killings were “execution-style shootings that killed 14 people and wounded eight others between October 1973 and April 1974, mostly at night along the city’s Divisadero Street corridor. The gunmen were African American and the victims were mostly white. The killings got the Zebra label from police use of a special radio band, the Z channel, in their investigation.” (pulled quote from *PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS (like most others) A GRUESOME CASE WHICH INVOLVES TRIGGER WARNINGS* Although we are wrapping up Season 1, that doesn’t mean that we are done! We will have several guests appearing on the show between Season 1 and Season 2. Season 2 will still be alphabetical BUT we will be covering killers (not necessarily serial killers) from everywhere. We will choose them based on where they’re from. For instance, the Zebra Killings took place in San Fransisco, California so we would cover them for our “S” episode. If YOU have a suggestion, send it to us! We want to cover lesser known killers this season! This is a very special episode where Heather has the amazing opportunity to interview Jason Eric Ross! Jason is a licensed Psychotherapist, an actor and writer! At the age of 48 he moved back to NYC and began acting on shows such as The Perfect Murder, Mysteries at the Museum, and Dateline Crime with Tamron Hall. More recently, he became the first Psychotherapist to play an actual 'Psycho," when he portrayed Serial Killer Keith Jespersen on Evil Lives Here on Discovery ID, Season 3 Episode 11. We will dive into this case during our chat! Additionally, Jason also appeared in a few award winning short films. As a therapist, coach and trainer, Jason takes a very proactive, motivational approach with clients, and believe people need to challenge their fears actively. He believes that when we examine our Physical, Intellectual, Social, Emotional and Spiritual lives, we can focus our efforts so we are happier more productive and fulfilled. This is a special minisode! In Episode 22: U (Unidentified Killers) with Megan, one of the killers covered was "The Doodler". We released the episode on 06/20/18 and received an article on 06/21/18 from Scott Fuller from the Frozen Truth podcast...with an update about The Doodler! This is super exciting! With all of the DNA testing bringing forth suspects in old and cold cases. We will continue to provide updates as we have them! Additionally, Megan discusses her doodling experience in Chicago, just days after this episode released...super creepy timing!

In this episode, Heather and Megan discuss Unidentified Killers. Most people know of the famous, or shall I say infamous, serial killers. However, there are some serial killers whose identity baffles even the best of detectives…yes, I mean YOU; armchair detectives! Heather and Megan thought that it would be fun to discuss a couple of them in this episode. Heather covers the Moonlight Murders, committed by the Phantom Killer whilst Megan covers the Doodler. Yes, you read that right…the Doodler! Join us for a relaxed yet Murder-y episode brought to you by the Murder.ly Network: Podcasts to Die For! During this episode, we discuss a couple of Heather’s all-time favorite podcasts as well! Stay tuned for their promos at the end…then make your way over to your favorite podcast app and subscribe! HEATHER IS FANGIRLING!!! In this episode, Heather invites Nick and Jessa from the Getting Off Podcast to discuss everyone’s eye candy serial killer; aka the Lady Killer, Ted Bundy. Although the Nature vs Narcissism Podcast has covered Ted Bundy in the past (Episode 2), we thought it would be fun to discuss Ted with folks who understand and are a part of the criminal justice system. Since Nick and Jessa are defense attorneys, we thought it would be fun to do a crossover episode where they break down the Chi Omega trial and share their expert opinions as well as their personal thoughts on the case as a whole! We have a blast and learn a lot about Jessa’s ‘wayward youth’, as Nick describes it! This episode was a blast and I learned a lot in Part 2; which is over on the Getting Off feed. You will probably learn a lot and may have even acquitted him if you knew what we now know about the case and evidence!! Be sure to check out Frozen Truth as a new season will be airing on June 24th! We thought it would be fitting to discuss Jerry with folks who understand and are a part of the BDSM community. *This is a listener FAVORITE from Season 1. We are using a new format and recording style for Season 3 and beyond. We have kept this episode on the main feed as it was one that the listeners loved.
In this episode, Rachelle covers Robert Ben Rhoades (aka the Truck Stop Killer) and Heather covers Dennis Rader (aka the BTK Killer). Robert Ben Rhoades would pick up hitchhikers along the highways to torture and kill them. Whenever the females were with a male companion, Rhoades would shoot and kill the male immediately, whilst tying up the female in the cab of his semi-truck; which he converted into a traveling torture chamber. Rhoades called himself "Whips & Chains" and often kept his female victims for weeks at a time. He would rape and torture them until he decided he was done playing with them. Rhoades ended up killing at least 3 but possibly 50 victims in the span of 15 years. He is 72 years old and resides in the Menard Correctional Institution; where he has been since 1990 and will remain until death. Dennis Rader is a different kind of species but shares many qualities with Rhoades. Dennis was also born in 1945 and went years without being apprehended. However, unlike Rhoades, Rader had a family and to many he seemed like the perfect family man. He was President of the Christ Lutheran Church and a Cub Scout leader. Rader, like Rhoades, had a kit/box of tools in which he used to torture and kill his victims. Rader called this his hot box and stated that he killed because of his Factor X deep within that compelled him to live out his fantasies...". *This is a listener FAVORITE from Season 1. We are using a new format and recording style for Season 3 and beyond. We have kept this episode on the main feed as it was one that the listeners loved.
In this episode, Heather covers Paul Michael Stephani (aka the Weepy-Voiced Killer) and Rachelle covers Philip Markoff (aka the Craigslist Killer). Paul had a tendency to call the cops on himself after killing his victims. He had so much guilt and remorse that he would call, while crying/weeping, to inform the police that he had killed his victim and he didn't know why/couldn't stop. His track record was terrible as two of his five victims survived (good for them), but that is what eventually led to his capture. As for Philip, he was the epitomy of every parent's dream child. He was in sports, clubs, and attending med school. He was engaged and already planned the wedding with his fiance. Everything seemed to be nothing short of perfect. That is until, he and his fiance were on their way to the casino one day when they were pulled over and Philip was taken into custody. For what, you ask? Luring women from Craigslist ads to hotel rooms where he would rob and kill them. Don't forget to send us your questions for our Q&A episode!!!
