You were born there, went to school there, and all of your family lives there. Now imagine a knock at your door, and standing there is a person who represents the United States government. The person at the door then challenges your ethnicity, and you have to move out of your home because the Federal Government has determined that since you are not who THEY say you are, you must leave your home, your land, and maybe even the town that you grew up in. To some degree, this is what the Mashpee Wampanoag people are now facing.
