Listen. Watch. Know the Whole Story.
The Buffalo Bills' stadium deal is about to be finalized, and it's important to know the truth. It's a historic scam, a subsidy that benefits the richest among us at the expense of some of the weakest among us.
Here are ten important points to consider:
1. The Bills were already given a quarter billion dollars in 2010 to keep their promise to stay.
2. Despite promises from leaders, there was only one meeting about a future stadium plan.
3. The Bills can still leave under this deal.
4. Only three public hearings were held during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic for this new 900 million dollar giveaway.
5. The deal passed through the NYS legislature because Governor Hochul forced it in at the last second, putting the entire budget at risk.
6. After a backlash, Governor Hochul paid for the deal in part by freezing the accounts of the Senecas and taking the money from them, and he new stadium is being built on Native American burial grounds – for real.
7. The community benefits agreement is controlled entirely by the Bills and serves as a tax write-off.
8. Governor Hochul's husband's company operates the Bills stadium and casinos that directly compete with the Senecas.
9. The stadium was moved from Buffalo due to racist intent.
10. Building a stadium in Orchard Park, one of the wealthiest and whitest areas in the region, with such limited public input is wrong.
