    Naked Lunch

Don’t you love a great lunch and conversation with an interesting friend? You know, the kind that you talk about for years to come. Phil Rosenthal, creator, and host of Netflix’s “Somebody Feed Phil,” already knows how to find fascinating people, foods, and cultures. While he always likes eating lunch, he’s even more enthusiastic about a lunch that includes a conversation with smart people who share their stories. From Straw Hut Media

    Pamela Adlon Jan 26, 2023
    Show notes

This week's "Naked Lunch" podcast episode is definitely one of our "Better Things" as Phil & David very gleefully break bread and -- for the first time ever -- receive the generous gift of baked goods -- from the wildly talented Pamela Adlon. Together they lovingly and laughingly trace Pamela and Phil's decades long friendship that started when they worked together on a Fox sitcom called "Down The Shore" -- which Phil wrote on and Pamela starred in . . . until she was insanely fired for "not being hot enough." Phil, David and Pamela discuss the genius of Pamela's Peabody-winning FX series "Better Things" which she brilliantly wrote, directed, produced and starred in. They also discuss her remarkable life in show business with amazing stories that feature everyone from Redd Foxx to Michelle Pfeiffer to Judy Gold to Lenny Kravitz. Food by Mizlala. Pastries by République. Fun for all. To learn more about building community through food and "Somebody Feed the People," visit the Philanthropy page at philrosenthalworld.com.

    Andy Richter Jan 19, 2023
    Show notes

This week's "Naked Lunch' has a very special kick -- a very special sidekick -- actor, comedian, writer, podcaster Andy Richter. Phil, David & Andy try to answer a suddenly pressing question -- is David Phil's sidekick on "Naked Lunch"? And if not, what the hell is he? Andy Richter discusses his long career in show business, working wonderfully and hilariously well with Conan O'Brien, some of his favorite late night guests, and his current "Three Questions with Andy Richter" podcast. Then, Andy, Phil and David do a deep dive on the famously complicated history of the drama surrounding Conan, Jay Leno, NBC and "The Tonight Show." Andy also shares the story of a remarkable meal he had alongside Jay in 2022. Please Note: This episode was recorded shortly before Jay Leno's recent injury in a garage fire and was held back until Jay had recovered and returned to work. Pizzana Party with Daniele Uditi for the "L.A. Times Food Bowl." Dec 22, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to a VERY foody episode of "Naked Lunch" -- recently nominated as Best Food Podcast for 2023's iHeart Podcast Awards! Next year, we hope to be nominated for Best Naked Podcast! Chef Daniele Uditi -- the acclaimed and lovable chef of Pizzana and beloved pizza judge on Hulu's "Best In Dough" -- who fantastically overfed Phil, David and Jimmy Kimmel a few episodes ago, is the main course for this special "Naked Lunch" that Phil and David recorded in the kitchen area of Pizza in Beverly Hills. As part of this year's exciting Los Angeles Times Food Bowl, the public was invited to feast along with our hosts. This event benefitted one of Phil's favorite charities, Project Angel Food food bank, while the delicious food prepared by Daniele and his extraordinary staff benefitted anyone who got to eat that night. Daniele tells his inspiring and sometimes hilarious success story coming to America, while Phil, David and Daniele answer some questions that the guests at Pizzana jotted down in between courses. Brent Spiner Dec 15, 2022
    Show notes

Join us for a truly out of this world "Naked Lunch" conversation with the multi-talented actor, singer & author Brent Spiner, best known around the world for his brilliant performance as the android Data on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and in other "Star Trek" films and series as well as playing Dr. Brackish Okun in the "Independence Day" films. But Phil and Brent are longtime friends, and this wide-ranging lunch held at the sadly just-closed Malibu Kitchen covers galaxies of territory, from Brent's work experiences with icons like Walter Matthau, Stephen Sondheim and Martin Scorsese, as well as a wild story of being stalked that inspired Brent's 2021 book, "Fan Fiction: A Mem-Noir: Inspired by True Events." On a far more pleasant note, David has lots of questions about Brent's impressive musical life, including "Dreamland," Brent's fantastic 2008 concept album with the extraordinary vocalist Maude Maggart featuring great voice acting work by Mark Hamill.
