Is The Netflix Deal a Good thing for Warner Bros - My Xbox And Me Podcast #545 Dec 21, 2025

Show notes

Netflix has made one of the biggest moves in entertainment history, announcing a proposed $82.7 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming and studio division, including Warner Bros. Games. If approved, this deal would put major gaming franchises under Netflix’s control, including Mortal Kombat, Hogwarts Legacy, and the Batman: Arkham series.

In My Xbox And Me Podcast #545, we break down what this could actually mean for gamers, not just investors.

We discuss:

What Netflix owning Warner Bros. Games means for console players
The future of major IPs like Arkham, Mortal Kombat, and Hogwarts Legacy
Whether Netflix could push games toward subscriptions or exclusivity
How this impacts Xbox, PlayStation, and third-party studios
If this deal strengthens or weakens the future of big-budget games

With Netflix already struggling to find its place in gaming, this potential acquisition raises serious questions about ownership, preservation, monetisation, and creative freedom in the games industry.

If you care about Xbox, AAA game franchises, and how corporate decisions shape the games we play, this episode is essential listening.

Xbox Are Putting Ads in Games!?! - My Xbox And Me #352 Apr 22, 2022

Show notes

Xbox is putting adverts inside of our games?! Well… maybe. This week MC Fixer, Kresh and Matt are chatting all about Xbox’s rumoured programme to add advertising to free-to-play games. Is this a great way for smaller games to monetise or is this a slippery slope into the horror show that is the free-to-play mobile space?

We go in-depth, talking all about the positives and negatives that could come from this new gaming… “innovation”.

Kresh has returned to Cyberpunk 2077 this week to try and dig himself out of his gaming rut and Matt continues to gush about Elden Ring and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

We’re also taking your questions about video game movies, Jason Mamoa’s sexy body and franchises that are beloved… but not by us.

And finally, the lads pitch the perfect reboot for Crazy Taxi… Sega… hit us up!!!
