Popular indie artist and podcaster Andy Frasco speaks with MMP host Darrell Craig Harris about his new album, touring, and much more! Feb 27, 2025

Show notes

Successful indie artist and podcaster Andy Frasco speaks with MMP host Darrell Craig Harris from his hotel room in Tennessee about his current tour, new album release, his World Saving Podcast show, and so much more!

Andy Frasco & The U.N. have long been the high-flying DIY renegades of the touring scene known and loved for their kaleidoscopic musical fusion, one-of-a-kind onstage audacity, and contagious party-animal energy. The band’s recent full-length LP ‘L’Optimist’ celebrates their longevity, while giving way to a wiser, but no less enthusiastic, artist and band leader who isn’t afraid to lean into the introspective and explore more difficult terrain, lyrically and emotionally. “We’re not going to be able to change the world, but we can at least help the process along by being optimistic that the future will turn itself around. And if everyone changes their mind state about the future, then maybe we can change the world!

Music Matters host Darrell Craig Harris speaks with Monique Powell long-time lead vocalist for the popular ska/rock band “Save Ferris” from her home in Garden Grove, California! #saveferris #skaband #podcast

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN Save Ferris is a ska-punk band formed in Orange County, California circa 1995. Their name is a reference to the 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Lead by the inimitable front-woman Monique Powell, the band enjoyed mainstream success in the late 1990s with radio hits, constant touring and appearances on a variety of television shows and movies. The band released their debut EP "Introducing Save Ferris" on Powell's own Starpool Records, in 1996. They ended up selling close to 20,000 copies of their EP out of the trunks of their cars, thanks to loyal fans and huge support from Orange County independent record shops. That same year, Powell provided vocals on the Reel Big Fish song "She Has A Girlfriend Now" on their album "Turn the Radio Off" (Mojo). https://www.SaveFerris.com Social Media / saveferrisofficialband
