In the quiet, seemingly idyllic town of Malahide, nestled against the seaside cliffs of Ireland, a sinister tale unfolded that would forever stain the pages of history. The year was 1926—a time when the horrors of history still echoed through the streets—and the McDonnell family lay sound asleep unaware of the lurking danger.

Show notes

Adam Sandler may WRITE the funniest murder mysteries, but the state of Missouri sure has one of the most puzzling. Ricky McCormick's disappearance and death have confounded and intrigued detectives and internet sleuths alike for almost 25 years. With only two encrypted handwritten messages found with his belongings, we've been left wondering, who or what killed Ricky McCormick?

Let's Mourn.

Ep. 13 - The Long Island Serial Killer (LISK)/Rex Heuermann ? Jul 22, 2023

Show notes

HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP!!! It might be actually happening finally... Only a week ago police arrested a man for the murder of multiple women in connection to the Gilgo Beach or "LISK" killings. This is only the start though, there have been at least 18 victims found in this area, so there is much to learn. I'm actually so excited I can't think of what else to type. This, for me at least, is on par with discovering the identity of Joseph James DeAngelo, aka the East Area Rapist, aka the Golden State Killer. Let's dive in, I appreciate your ears:)

Ep. 12 - Death Row Double Murder May 03, 2023

Show notes

Do we, as humans, have the right to decide who lives and who dies? I'm not here to tell you one way or another. However, plenty of the facts heavily point toward the negative.

No matter your stance on the subject, today's story is certifiably insane!! What happens when you put a lifer in the same jail cell as a young malleable teenager? Without too many spoilers, let's just say two wrongs don't make a right. Between a "supportive" girlfriend, a thief with nothing to lose, double homicide, and a prison escape, this story has it all! Today I bring you the death row case of Michael Tisius and Roy Vance.

Let's mourn.

Ep. 10 - Pelorus Jack (The Anti-Death Dolphin) Apr 17, 2023

Show notes

Welcome back to another installment of Murder in the Mourning! This is the Legend of Pelorus Jack. A Risso's dolphin, named Jack, was responsible for guiding ships to safety through the treacherous New Zealand waters. Not only did Jack captain this area for 24 years, but he also had the memory of an elephant. And trust me, you wouldn't want to be on this Dolphin's bad side. Although today's episode isn't murder-based, I think we can all appreciate a great animal story (at least Mark Twain and Frank T. Bullen thought so). I hope you enjoy this palate cleanser!

Ep. 9 - Olga Ooro / Darnell Sterling Apr 05, 2023

Show notes

Welcome back to another twisted Murder in the Mourning! Today we have a 2020 case with a 2023 update. How often do you hear of murderers getting away with an easy conviction since the body never turned up? That is not the case today. Let's take a deep dive into how prosecutors can still put evil people behind bars even without the most damning piece of evidence, the body. Olga Ooro was a young single mother who was taken away from her child and family many years too soon. Darnell Sterling is an abusive, controlling man who almost got away with murder. This is their story. (Also, everyone go check out “The Butcher and the Wren” by Alaina Urquhart) References: Boyfriend convicted of murdering woman 'whose body has never been recovered'. Law & Crime.
