    Motherkind

Motherkind is the podcast for women who know that motherhood changes everything — and want to grow forward, not “bounce back”. Hosted by Zoe Blaskey, Motherkind explores the profound personal, emotional and professional transformation that happens when you become a mother. This is a space for women navigating the wild, identity-shifting years of motherhood who want to reclaim confidence, redefine ambition, and build a life that works for who they are now.

Each week, Zoe sits down with world-leading experts, thought leaders, psychologists, authors and well-known figures to unpack the real experiences of modern motherhood — from matrescence and identity loss to confidence, boundaries, work, relationships and self-worth. Expect honest conversations, evidence-based insight and practical tools that help you move through this season with clarity and strength.

Motherkind is not about doing more, fixing yourself, or returning to who you were before children. It’s about becoming who you are now — with intention, compassion and growth. If you’re a mother who wants to feel more like herself again — confident, grounded and excited about what’s next — this is your place. Motherkind: for the woman behind the mother.

Welcome to this week’s episode. It’s a very special one. Perhaps one of the most important conversations I’ve ever had on the podcast. Have you ever tried to change a habit or behaviour and got stuck - finding yourself repeating the same cycles again and again? Why your childhood still matters today with Stephanie Stahl Mar 11, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome to this week’s episode. As you know if you are a regular listener to this podcast, what we experience in our childhood unconsciously shapes and determines our entire approach to life as adults. Once we know this, it gives us something very powerful. And that is choice. Once we have a choice to become aware of our unconscious belief patterns and where they come from in our childhood, then we can change them. I find that the most exciting thing in the world. Regardless of how you were parented or how your early experiences were you have the power to change how you show up in parenthood. And I believe that is whole, full of love, and infinite potential. And that is what this week’s episode is all about. It will show you how to connect to your childhood experiences if you want to enact change as an adult. If you are getting stuck it could be because of something that happened in your childhood. Stephanie Stahl is known as Germany’s psycho-therapist superstar. She is one of Germany's top psychologists and authors on how to confront your past, trauma, fear and shame and live more authentically. She has written 10 books. Her latest one, the Child in You, is brilliant. It’s been a multimillion best seller in Europe and it’s about to be released in the UK. I loved how practical the book is. Super simple yet transformational. I love this episode and hope you do too. We talk about: - What your inner child is - Why it is important and why you should care - How to connect with your childhood experiences - How the inner shadow child can manifest in adulthood FREEBIES! Show notes

Jane Tavakalian, also known as Jane Lightworker, is a mum of three, an intuitive business and life coach and the creator of the #1 course for empathetic people looking to take their energy and power back. Energy is finite. We only have so much of it each day, and yet often without knowing it we give that energy far too quickly to other people and things that aren't that important to us. We feel exhausted and depleted, not from lack of sleep, but from allowing ourselves to be drained by what's going on outside of us. So how do we preserve our energy for things that actually matter to us? How do we claw that precious energy back and become more empowered? Well, this insightful episode will tell you how. You will learn: - What it means to be an empath - How to know if you are one - Navigate the energy around you as a parent - How to reconnect with yourself - How to shift your whole experience of life with a mindset change - The Law of Assumption and how to use it to transform your day As you may already know, I’m very excited about our sponsor, Zendium toothpaste. Why parenting is generational with Philippa Perry Jan 21, 2021
    Show notes

After reading The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read (and Your Children Will Be Glad That You Did), I knew I had to get Philippa Perry on the podcast. She is a renowned psychotherapist, author, journalist, and television presenter, and the wife of artist Grayson Perry. In this episode she helps us unpack what gets in the way of connecting with our children. She would like children to be able to tell their parents absolutely anything. And, as parents, she says it could be dangerous to close that down. If we can have a strong healthy connection with our kids, the future can take care of itself. We dig into: - How to have connected, trusting relationships with our children (even if we didn't have that with our own parents) - What gets in the way of having a good connection with our kids and what can enhance it - The trouble with not feeling our own pain - The generational cycles of parenting - What does it mean to give our kids 'enough' attention - Authenticity vs perfection parenting - How to help children express anger without acting out There is so much heart and wisdom in this exchange with Philippa. I hope you can feel it too. DISCOUNT FOR THE MOTHERKIND COMMUNITY As you may already know, I’m very excited about our sponsor, Zendium toothpaste.
