September 19th: Abdul Latif Sharif Born (1947) Today’s story is complicated to say the least. But, with new victims showing up even to this day, corruption in the police department, and a city overrun with crime, it’s difficult to say who is responsible and just how many serial killers are running around Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.

September 18th: Mesac Damas Flees(2009)

Determining a person’s level of competency to stand trial is an important step in any legal process. It makes sure that those who need help get it and those who are simply dangerous stay behind bars. At least, that’s what it’s supposed to do. On September 18th 2009 a man fled the country after brutally killing his entire family. A man who, by all accounts, seemed like he needed the help of a mental health professional. But, when he finally got it, they came back saying he wasn’t sick, but simply playing the long con.

September 17th: Eric Christopher Houston’s Sentence Upheld (1993)

Some people are incapable of taking the blame for the hardships in their lives. That’s not to say there aren’t some outside factors but, for most, we can take all the bad in our lives and try our best to turn it around and make some positive change. On September 17th 1993 a judge in California was set to decide the sentence for a man who sat in the rubble of his crumbling life and only had 1 person to blame. His high school civics teacher.

September 11th: Cathy Woods Released (2014) Not all confessions should be taken with absolute certainty. False confessions exist and, while it seems odd that someone would confess to killing someone when they are innocent, there are extenuating circumstances that we may never understand. On September 11th 2014 a woman was released after decades behind bars for a crime she did not commit.
