Doubt is Not the Enemy to Faith: Rameumptom Ruminations: 112 May 20, 2025
    Show notes

In this episode of Rameumptom Ruminations, we explore doubt not as the enemy of faith, but as a sacred doorway to deeper, more honest spirituality. Drawing from literature, Movies, and lived experience, we examine how high-demand religions like Mormonism often idealize certainty, and how this can obscure the value of questions and struggle. Through the lens of epistemic humility and the metaphor of the unreliable narrator, we reframe doubt as a truth-telling discipline rather than a defect. Listeners are invited to see doubt not as the end of belief, but as the beginning of chosen, compassionate, and resilient faith.

All Mormons Go To Hell: RFM: 399 May 19, 2025
    Show notes

Every Mormon alive can tell you without hesitation about the Godhead; how there are three members in the Godhead, the Father and the Son, with bodies of flesh and bones, and the Holy Ghost with a body of spirit. What most Mormons are not aware of, however, is that Joseph Smith taught a radically different doctrine of the Godhead before this version. And on top of that, Joseph Smith taught that you had to believe in the earlier version of the Godhead in order to be saved. Which would seem to mean that any Mormon who believes in a different version of the Godhead will not be saved, or other words, will be damned. This is the story of the Lectures on Faith. And this is the story of why it is all Mormons go to hell!

The Mind & Body’s Connection to Religious Trauma May 18, 2025
    Show notes

In this powerful episode, we explore the fascinating—and at times unsettling—truth that your body can carry pain, anxiety, and illness long after the danger is gone. Through bizarre medical stories and neuroscience-backed insights, we expose how the brain can misfire protective signals, trapping us in cycles of suffering with no clear physical cause. But we don’t stop at science. We take a hard look at how religious trauma—especially from high-demand systems like Mormonism—can sabotage the nervous system, teaching us to fear our own instincts and stay hypervigilant in the name of obedience. From chronic pain to panic attacks to unexplained sickness, we reveal how trauma—spiritual or otherwise—can become embedded in the body… and how healing is possible. If you’ve ever wondered why you still feel unsafe, even when you’re “out,” or why your symptoms don’t match your diagnosis—this is the episode that connects the dots.

John Taylor and the Truth About the Dark Ages: Rethinking the Great Apostasy May 15, 2025
    Show notes

In this eye-opening episode of Mormonism Live, hosts Bill Reel and Radio Free Mormon are joined by author and theologian Charley Harrell to explore his powerful Dialogue Journal article, “John Taylor on the ‘Dark Ages’.” Together, they take a deep dive into how third LDS Church President John Taylor challenged the traditional narrative of the Great Apostasy—offering a radically different view of the Middle Ages, where spiritual gifts and divine revelation still thrived. Was there really a total apostasy after the death of Christ, or have we misunderstood what “spiritual darkness” means? Harrell examines Taylor’s 1873 discourse, revealing that the LDS prophet acknowledged divine influence and religious truth outside of Mormonism—even among Christian mystics and thinkers during the so-called “Dark Ages.” This conversation reframes the LDS Church’s apostasy narrative, opens the door to interfaith spirituality, and raises critical questions about revelation, church authority, and doctrinal evolution. Whether you’re a believing Latter-day Saint, a post-Mormon, or simply curious about Christian history and theology, this episode offers compelling insights that challenge conventional Mormon teachings.

    Show notes

[The Mormon Newscast May 5th 2025] Tonight on the Mormon Newscast, we begin with a major update from Michelle Stone, the face of the polygamy denier movement and host of the “132 Problems” podcast. In a surprising turn, Stone has announced she’s stepping away from her Podcast and it’s YouTube Channel. We’ll unpack what led to her departure and if the Church played a role. Also in this episode: We bring you the final word from Fairview, Texas, as the town council delivered its decision on the controversial LDS temple proposal. Meanwhile, in a twist of iconography, crosses—long taboo in LDS culture—are quietly making a comeback. Is this doctrinal drift or just design trend? We’ll also explore a Latter-day Petroleum Ruse and the effort for victims to retrieve tithing funds paid by the alleged abuser. We also take a look at one drugged man’s attempt to go to Church. And finally, we’ll examine growing concerns about the Mormon Stories podcast—what’s being said, and whether there’s real cause for caution. Stay tuned for sharp analysis, smart questions, and a few laughs along the way.

The Book of Mormon tells of a group of giant people named the Jaredites who came to the Americas long ago, direct from the destruction at the tower of Babel. Several extra-biblical elements are mentioned relating to the tower of Babel story, and surprisingly, these stories exist in ancient legends unavailable to Joseph Smith. Well, the original documents were unavailable to Joseph Smith. But Joseph did have access to a certain book in which those legends were written down. Stay tuned! This one you won’t want to miss!

Utah’s Bloodiest Secret: Mormonism and the Black Hawk War [Mormonism Live 230] May 01, 2025
    Show notes

This episode of Mormonism Live, we dive into a forgotten battlefield of Utah history — the Black Hawk War — a brutal and devastating conflict between Mormon settlers and Native American tribes that has been largely buried under pioneer myths and whitewashed storytelling. Far from a few isolated raids, the Black Hawk War (1865–1872) was Utah’s deadliest and most destructive conflict, costing hundreds of lives, displacing entire tribes, and forcing Mormon settlements to be abandoned across southern Utah. We’ll explore how this violent chapter unfolded, why the LDS Church worked so hard to minimize it, and the staggering story of Antonga Black Hawk — the baptized Ute leader who fought for his people’s survival and whose remains were later put on public display like a trophy. In this episode, we ask the uncomfortable questions: How did religious manifest destiny fuel the bloodshed? Why was this “war” covered up for so long? And what does reckoning with this history reveal about Mormonism’s legacy of colonization? Get ready — this is the real Mormon history they never taught you in Sunday School.
