Friends with Pyramid Schemes Jul 16, 2018
    Show notes

Welcome to another episode of MOTL! First off, Betsy cannot be held responsible for anything she says in this episode because Pre-K graduation is coming up and she may or may not have had a meltdown on her way to record this episode.

Now that we have that out of the way, we can get to today's topic: pyramid friends. You know the people we're talking about. The people who trick you into getting coffee with them and before you know it, you're getting recruited to sell face cream, leggings or mascara. WTF?

The side hustle is admirable, we're all about that, but it's disappointing when you think you're making a genuine friend and find out, someone you thought was your friend, is only looking to grow their biz.

Tell us we're not the only ones. Who else has been schemed out of friendships by "pyramid friends". How did you navigate this "mom world" phenomenon? Find us on Instagram @themomsontheloose. Tag us in your posts! Until next time, we'll be on the loose.

The Bottle Episode Jul 09, 2018
    Show notes

Brittany and Betsy reel it in today for their bottle episode. Historically, bottle episodes are created when sitcoms are experiencing budgetary restrictions or other limitations. Often, brilliant episodes come from the challenge of creating on a low budget.

In the spirit of creativity and appreciation for fellow podcasters, Brittany and Betsy rave about some of their favorite podcasts: Girls Gotta Eat (which should not be listened to with children in the car), Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History, The Ancient World, The Hidden Brain, Oprah's SuperSoul Podcast, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard and Business Wars. Check 'em out!

Also, because this is a bottle episode and it is unscripted and off the cuff, Botox is discussed. Our best advice on botox? Ease into it and be careful around the eyes, no one wants to look soulless.

Our first season is well on its way and we would love your reviews and comments. If you are having as much fun as we are, share this podcast with a friend and find us on Instagram @themomsontheloose. Tag us in your posts! Until next time, we'll be on the loose.

    Rockstar + Mom = Kendall Beard Jun 18, 2018
    Show notes

It's a good day for The Moms on the Loose. Today, they chat with mom and musician, Kendall Beard. They are at Hotel San Jose, in the presidential suite, overlooking the pool. Hell yeah. If that doesn't make you feel like a mom on the loose, I don't know what will.

Kendall hosted Austin fashion week events, performed on the Texas rodeo circuit as a teenager, was a finalist on American Idol, is a member of the band Love and Chaos and is a wife and mom. It's like she's lived multiple lives.

On this episode, we cover organ failure, giving birth, life after giving birth, night nannies, major mom fails, steroids, and everything in between. The main takeaway is that Kendall is a real live rockstar mom, and is just down-right awesome.

We wanna hear how you found balance between being a new mom and pursuing your passions. What does that look like for you? Are you still searching for the sweet spot? Find us on Instagram @themomsontheloose and tag us in your posts. Until next time, we'll be on the loose.

Shout out to Kendall Beard for being here with us today. Find her on Instagram: @loveandchaosmusic and @kendallbeard. Find her on Facebook: www.facebook.com/loveandchaos1/ Find her online: www.loveandchaosmusic.com, and kendallbeard.com.

    V for Vasectomy Jun 11, 2018
    Show notes

For The Moms on the Loose, vasectomy equals victory.

In this mini-episode, Betsy tells the story of how she coaxed her husband into a painless, little vasectomy. She may or may not have used an old, positive pregnancy test to psych her husband out. Her win may have been ruthless, but hey, a win's a win.

Both Brittany and Betsy feel their families are complete. Betsy has successfully executed her plan to get her husband to have a vasectomy. Brittany has a bit more work to do. It will be an uphill battle, but she's confident she will get her V-day.

Tell us about how you talked your husband into getting a vasectomy. How did you get your V-day? What was your battle plan? Was it his idea? We wanna know! Find us on Instagram @themomsontheloose and tag us in your posts. Until next time, we'll be on the loose.

    FLUency Jun 04, 2018
    Show notes

If your pediatrician has ever asked you to stop calling the nurse hotline or someone has explained to you when you should and shouldn't visit the ER, this episode is for you.

Today, Brittany and Betsy meet with Tori, a friend, registered pediatric nurse and badass mom. Tori and her husband own several pediatric urgent care clinics, and she gets unusually excited about a "bad" flu season. She's seen sick and injured kids for just about everything, including one patient who caught a giant fish lure through the eyebrow.

Thank goodness for Tori, school nurses and nurse hotlines, without them, Brittany, Betsy, and their children would have faced the flu, appendicitis, ER visits, and head lice all on their own.

We want to hear about the moments you were super glad you had a nurse for a friend. Tell us what about the stomach bugs, the lice outbreaks, and the panicked trips to the hospital. Find us on Instagram @themomsontheloose and tag us in your posts. Until next time, we'll be on the loose.

Special thanks to Torie Pearce for being on the show!

    F*#k the Birth Plan May 28, 2018
    Show notes

Home births, doulas, and all natural births sound magical. It's a nice thought to plan for a gentle, all-natural birth, but if we're being honest, sometimes, birth plans go to shit.

Brittany had a legit birth plan outlining all the stages of labor. She decided to say "F*#k the birth plan" after 24 hours of miserable labor. After the epidural, things were gravy. You know, except for icing her vagina for six weeks after giving birth.

Betsy's game plan was to wing it. She planned to watch Prison Break during labor on the Apple TV her husband brought to the hospital. She also planned to strip the hospital of all the towels, soap and throw-up buckets she could fit in a suitcase. Like Brittany, her labor did not go as planned. It was a lot less gentle than imagined.

Basically, Brittany and Betsy were totally unprepared for labor and the chaos that happened afterward. We want to hear your stories, were you prepared? Did you say "F*#k the birth plan"? Was it a shiny, happy, at-home experience? Find us on Instagram @themomsontheloose and tag us in your posts. Until next time, we'll be on the loose.

Meet Cute: Our Serendipitous Beginning May 18, 2018
    Show notes

There's no way these moms on the loose could have known their anti-climatic first encounter would turn into a life-long friendship of hoping their children would eventually marry, peeing behind dumpsters, and rollin' side stage at concerts. They first met at the duckling classroom, it was pre-school "meet the teacher" night and they both had kids enrolled. Brittany had swagger and Betsy knew they needed to be BFF's. Later, she took a gamble and invited Brittany out on the town. Long story short, they took an uber, drank tall boys all night, Brittany cat-walked and then stripped down to pee next to a dumpster. This moment sealed their fate and they have been the moms on the loose ever since. They want to share the sweet freedom they felt in that "peeing behind the dumpster" moment with other moms. They want to hear from all the moms out there who have had a "mom on the loose" moment. Find us on Instagram @themomsontheloose and tag us in your posts. Until next time, we'll be on the loose.
