    Michelle Nietert M.A., Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor has been providing therapeutic interventions to children and their families in counseling offices for over 20 years. As a previous educator, public school crisis counselor, and youth and children’s minister, she interacts regularly with parents and students at public school assemblies, PTA meetings, local churches, and is the mental health consultant for a local private Christian school. Michelle also provides trainings for school counselors, teachers and homeschool parents. A recognized expert in Solution Focused Therapy, she is the clinical director and owner of a large counseling center in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Michelle’s writing can be found on the MOPS blog, in Lifeway’s Parenting Magazine and she is the Mental Health columnist for Just Between Us Magazine. She also joins her audiences in the parenting trenches as a happily married mom of two school-aged children.     Christina Gard believes her family can change the world as they pray and as the give. In today’s episode, Lee sits down with Christina to talk about Compassion International’s Moms and Babies program, and how Moms in Prayer dovetails in mission and vision. Christina talks candidly about the sacrifices her family is making to support other moms, and the incredible blessings her family is receiving as a result.

    About our Guest:

    Christina Gard is the Associate Professor of Psychology at Southeastern University and serves alongside her husband as Lead Pastor of GraceCity Church in Lakeland, Florida. She holds a B.A. in Communication and Organizational Management from Northwest University, an M.S. in Human Services, and she's pursuing an M.A. in Ministerial Leadership. Christina has been a licensed pastor since 2009. Prior to teaching at SEU, she was a part of the faculty at Northwest University in the College of Ministry and was the children's pastor at Puyallup Foursquare Church in Puyallup, Washington. Christina held the title of Miss Alaska and competed at Miss America in 2005, serving as a national spokesperson for Childhelp USA through which she worked to break the silence surrounding child abuse, and is currently an advocate for Compassion International. In 2018, Andrew and Christina became parents to a beautiful set of twins named Justice and Adriana. They are passionate about introducing people to Jesus and seeing lives transformed. They are grateful for all that God has done, but one thing they know for certain, is that the best is still yet to come.

Terri’s walk to school every day took her through racially divided streets and physical persecution because of the color of her skin. In Part One of this two-part episode, Terri and Lee discuss Terri’s childhood and path to Jesus. In Part Two they talk about how Moms in Prayer moms can and must pray for children and schools in this time.

Today, Moms in Prayer President, Sally Burke, and Lee Nienhuis switch roles to talk about the true goal of motherhood, and how we can raise children who live counterculturally. This conversation is laced with the nuts and bolts of revival and how children have played a historical role in changing culture supported by their prayerful parents.

    Lee Nienhuis is an author and passionate Bible teacher. She is a Communications Specialist for Moms in Prayer International and the Host of the Moms in Prayer Podcast.

    Lee’s writing and speaking have been featured on Focus on the Family broadcast and magazine; True Woman; Proverbs 31, Hearts at Home, Iron Sharpens Iron conferences; GEMS Girls Clubs; and American Heritage Girls. Lee shares a dynamic vision for the next generation of Christ followers. Lee’s new book, Countercultural Parenting, released in June 2020. Her first book Brave Moms, Brave Kids released in 2018 also with Harvest House.

    Lee and her husband, Mike, have four great kids and live at Grace Adventures, a Christian Camp and Conference Center in West Michigan where her husband serves as the Director of Facilities and Maintenance for three campuses. Mike and Lee have four great kids who make her need Jesus like she needs oxygen.
