Episode 152 - Godly Motherhood with Jessie Seneca May 10, 2021
    Show notes

“One of life’s greatest blessings is to have a godly mother. And thus, one of the greatest gifts you can give your children is being a godly mother.” How do we do this? On today’s episode Stacy speaks with Jessie Seneca, author, speaker, and founder of More of Him Ministries. You won’t want to miss a moment as Jessie freely and graciously shares godly wisdom she has gleaned in raising her children.

    About our Guest:

Jessie Seneca is the founder of More of Him Ministries and the iMOM at home conference. Jessie lives in Bethlehem, PA with her husband, John of 35 years. They have two daughters, Lauren and Sarah and two wonderful son-in-laws. And now add on two grandsons, Luke and Connor (life is full!). Her message inspires women to move into a whole-hearted lifestyle, one devoted fully to God. Jessie’s passion and wisdom is to use the gifts God has given her to speak into the lives of her listeners and readers through her Bible studies and books. While writing her book, Raising Girls, Diaper to Diamond, she had one question at the forefront of her mind, “What do I wish I could tell the younger me?” She doesn’t claim to have all the answers and like most of us, has made mistakes along the way, but her continued desire has been to develop girls into responsible young adults while nurturing a deep friendship with her own daughters. Most days you can find Jessie walking her two golden-doodles, Bella and Murphy or playing with her grandsons.

    Scripture:

Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NIV) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Colossians 3:23 (NIV) Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

    Scripture:

Scripture on Tamar found in Genesis 38

Scripture on Rahab found in Joshua 2 and 6

Genesis 38:26a (NLT) Judah recognized them immediately and said, “She is more righteous than I am, because I didn’t arrange for her to marry my son Shelah.”

Joshua 2:8-14 (ESV) Before the men lay down, she came up to them on the roof and said to the men, “I know that the Lord has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you devoted to destruction. And as soon as we heard it, our hearts melted, and there was no spirit left in any man because of you, for the Lord your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath. Now then, please swear to me by the Lord that, as I have dealt kindly with you, you also will deal kindly with my father's house, and give me a sure sign that you will save alive my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them, and deliver our lives from death.” And the men said to her, “Our life for yours even to death! If you do not tell this business of ours, then when the Lord gives us the land we will deal kindly and faithfully with you.”

Psalm 78:35 (NKJV) Then they remembered that God was their rock, that God Most High was their redeemer.

Isaiah 43:1 (NIV) Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV) To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

Luke 7:36-50 (ESV) One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at table. And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.” And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he answered, “Say it, Teacher.”

“A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?” Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.” Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet. You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Then those who were at table with him began to say among[a] themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?” And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

John 8:36 (NIV) So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

1 John 1:9 (NIV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

    Scripture:

Scriptures on Hannah found in 1 Samuel 1-2

1 Samuel 1:8 (NIV) Her husband Elkanah would say to her, “Hannah, why are you weeping? Why don’t you eat? Why are you downhearted? Don’t I mean more to you than ten sons?”

1 Samuel 1:10-11 (NIV) In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly. And she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.”

1 Samuel 3:19-21 (NLT) As Samuel grew up, the Lord was with him, and everything Samuel said proved to be reliable. Numbers 30:6-8 (NIV) “If she marries after she makes a vow or after her lips utter a rash promise by which she obligates herself 7 and her husband hears about it but says nothing to her, then her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand. But if her husband forbids her when he hears about it, he nullifies the vow that obligates her or the rash promise by which she obligates herself, and the Lord will release her.

Psalm 10:17 (NIV) You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,

Psalm 18:16-19 (NIV) He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support.
He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

Psalm 138:3 (NASB) On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul.

Episode 146 - Hope for the Mom who is Brokenhearted with Pat Kenney Mar 29, 2021
    Show notes

“He is the God of comfort and the ultimate comfort is the hope we have for our future.” Today we continue our Moms in the Bible Series as Stacy talks with Pat Kenney, the Moms in Prayer North East Division Coordinator. Listen in as she shares hope for the brokenhearted, through looking at Mary, the mother of Jesus.

    About our Guest:

Pat Kenney is the Northeast Division Coordinator of Moms in Prayer (MIP) International. She has been praying for her children/granddaughter and schools through MIP since her daughters were in elementary school. Pat is married to her college sweetheart and has three adult daughters, one ‘son in love’ and an adorable granddaughter. She enjoys tennis, art, gardening and developing an abiding presence in God through His Word. Her ‘sweet spot’ is equipping moms to pray powerfully for their children and schools.

    Scripture:

Scriptures on Mary found in Luke 1-2

Psalm 34:18 (NLT) The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

Luke 2:19 (NIV) But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Luke 2: 25-35 (NLT) At that time there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon. He was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon him and had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. That day the Spirit led him to the Temple. So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required, Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying, “Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace, as you have promised. I have seen your salvation, which you have prepared for all people.
He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel!” Jesus’ parents were amazed at what was being said about him. Then Simeon blessed them, and he said to Mary, the baby’s mother, “This child is destined to cause many in Israel to fall, and many others to rise. He has been sent as a sign from God, but many will oppose him. As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul.”

John 19:25-27 (NLT) Standing near the cross were Jesus’ mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary (the wife of Clopas), and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, “Dear woman, here is your son.” And he said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple took her into his home.

Acts 1:14 (NLT) They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.

Psalm 28:7 (NIV) The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Episode 145 - Hope for the Mom Facing Impossibilites with Fern Nichols Mar 22, 2021
    Show notes

“God is trustworthy. When He makes a promise, He will keep it.” Today we begin our Moms of the Bible Series- Hope for Every Need. You are not going to miss a moment of this powerful, encouraging episode as Stacy talks with Fern Nichols, the founder of Moms in Prayer International. Listen in as she shares what happens when we pray to the One who faithfully keeps all His promises, even the impossible ones.

    About our Guest:

Fern Nichols is a former elementary school teacher and the founder of Moms in Prayer International, a prayer movement that mobilizes women around the world to gather together to pray for their children and schools. In 1984, Fern was fearful about sending her two eldest children off to junior high. She knew the school would be a battlefield for their hearts and minds. She realized the warfare would be intense and to fight in this battle she needed to invite other moms to pray. She called a mom and asked her to pray with her for their children and school. Her response was an immediate “yes,” and that was the humble beginning of Moms in Prayer that now spans the USA in every state and is in more than 150 countries.Fern has traveled to almost every continent in the world speaking, teaching and training women how to pray effectively. She and her husband Rle have been married 53 years. They were involved with Campus Crusade for Christ (now CRU) for 15 years. They have four children and 10 grandchildren.

    Scripture:

Scriptures about Sarah (Sarai) found in Genesis 12, 16-18, 21

Hebrews 11:11-12 (NIV) And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.

Psalm 138:2 (NLT) I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.

Psalm 89:8 (NLT) O Jehovah, Commander of the heavenly armies, where is there any other Mighty One like you? Faithfulness is your very character.

Psalm 5:3 (NIV) In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

Proverbs 27:17 (NIV) As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

Matthew 19:26 (NIV) Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

Philippians 1:6 (NIV) being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
