The Value Of Networking With Other Women Sep 28, 2020
    Show notes

I haven't always understood the value of networking. I used to think the word networking sounded fake and forced. I thought it was something that people did just for opportunity. Now I know it's so much more than that. In my experience, networking can lead you to creating genuine and lasting friendships in both your personal and professional life. There is so much value in connecting with other like-minded women. If the idea of going to a networking event terrifies you, you're not alone. I felt the same way when I attended my first in-person summit. If you can push past your fear and self doubt, I promise that it will be worth it. In this episode I cover:

    • The value and benefits of attending an in-person or virtual networking event
    • My experience with my first networking event, the Mom 2.0 summit
    • Why it's so important to invest in your hobbies
    • How empowering it is to get out of your comfort zone

I can't wait for you to hear from our guest today. Heijin Lee is Assistant Professor of Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University who specializes in Asian-American studies. Being Asian-Americans, Heijin and I have had many similar experiences in life. We are both passionate about starting a dialogue in regards to where Asian-Americans fit into the conversation of racism. Today we're going into a deep dive about both the concern we have for our children and our country's future, but also the pride we have in the younger generation of being powerful advocates for minorities.

On today's episode, Heijin and I discuss:

Pet Loss and Grief For Parents Aug 17, 2020
    Show notes

If you follow me on Instagram, you may know that my sweet dog, Bibi died unexpectedly a couple weeks ago. I've always wanted to do a podcast episode about pets, I just never knew it would be during these circumstances.

My father is a vet, so I've grown up around animals my entire life. I've been present for the birth and death of animals, but this experience has been different for me. Bibi was so important to me and my family, and I have had a difficult time accepting that she is gone.

In this episode, I'm sharing how I've been feeling since Bibi's death. I've learned that people grieve differently, especially men and women. I am a very sensitive and empathic person, so it's taking me a long time to come to terms with what's happened. In this episode I also discuss:

    • Why grieving is so difficult as a mom
    • Explaining loss to your children
    • The special role that pets play in our family
    • What Bibi's death has taught me

If you are grieving a loss of any kind, it is my hope that you're giving yourself time and grace to work through it.

    Parenting During a Pandemic Aug 03, 2020
    Show notes

I have been working from home for about six years now. Let's be real though, working from home during COVID-19 is not the same. I've been having a difficult time juggling motherhood and work during this time.

With four kids at home and my husband working full days, I am struggling to make it all work. I literally cannot even take a shower alone! I'm feeling the pressure of managing my business and my home, as well as guilt for not having the time to play and relax with my children, who I know are bored of being at home all day.

Today I wanted to do an episode of my honest feelings of parenting during this pandemic. I know I'm not the only one feeling this way! I mostly want you to know that if you're feeling overwhelmed and stressed out right now, you're most definitely not alone.
