    The Risk of Social Media
    • The huge problem is social media because when guys start looking at Instagram, all these girls try to get more likes by showing themselves on Instagram, and this becomes a huge trigger.
    • We are bombarded today by all these messages about sexuality, that sexuality is good, and that it's okay to show your body in a very vulnerable way like they do on Instagram.
    Building Awareness Through Mindfulness
    • We certainly need to be in touch with our emotions through meditation and mindfulness. We can be more in touch with our true emotions and I think that we can also build better relationships with other people through being mindful. It creates a more healthy individual.
Similarities Between P*&n Detox and Losing Weight
    • One of the similarities is spending all your mental energy on your addiction or thinking about, let's say, p*&n or food or fighting your thoughts. It just doesn't leave any headspace for you to think about what the real problem is.
    • The root cause is that psychological deficit, but when you go on a smart diet, you do whatever works for you. You just start eating cleaner and then you'll notice that you don't crave food that much anymore. And because you don't spend that mental energy on thinking about food, planning food, and so on, you realize that there is something bigger; that this is why I was actually overeating. And that could be a relationship going wrong.
Trauma As A Cause of a P*&n Addiction
    • The most common example is that people get exposed to this habit very early on. Their brothers were watching it, or their parents were watching it, they saw it and they got hooked. And this is definitely a psychological trauma because a six-year-old is not supposed to see things like this.
    • Another example, which is also very common is parents who were achievers. And they pushed their son or their daughter to come to me for help. In some cases they push too much. They had very high expectations and on the other hand they did not give much love. So the person feels that they were not loved enough. And that's why they're always not enough, even though they may be 30 or 40 years old now.

    Effect on Emotions
    • Going back to my original definition of mindfulness, self-awareness. A lot of times when I can just say, Oh, I'm angry, what am I angry about? Alright, let me sit with this for a minute. It's easier to process emotions when you can be fully aware of what they are, and where they're coming from. Knowing that sometimes not about what it's about, and finding the actual original source of those emotions. Everyday Crystal Healing
    Thoughts on Breathing
    • I think breathing is such an important aspect of it. For me, it's the best way to go from the sympathetic, nervous response to the parasympathetic nervous response going from flight or fight or flight is to rest and digest and bring yourself internally when you're meditating. Are you doing yoga or just sitting at your desk, focusing on your breath and getting rid of all the noise? This brings you back to yourself and the power of everyday crystal healing.

    • I had a difficult relationship with my mother. She had narcissistic tendencies, she has since passed away. But I didn't really understand that or know that growing up. And when I was a young adult, I was very much aware from my upbringing that my self-worth rested in someone else's opinion of me, particularly hers.
    • I didn't know that was not accurate, so I made a lot of choices based on people-pleasing and making sure that everybody else was happy and finding my worth in other people. And then what I found that my now ex-husband, also has narcissistic tendencies.
    • It wasn't until after divorcing him and finding my worth and finding self-love; that has been the key to the turnaround in my life. Then I realized that those relationships were not healthy, that my self-worth resides in my mere existence, and that I do not need to please other people to find my own happiness. That is what attracts the joy and the beauty that I have in my life. Everyday Crystal Healing

Bridging the Gap between Spirituality and Science; D. Neil Elliott Jul 27, 2022
    Show notes

    D. Neil Elliott was highly educated, owned a profitable consulting firm, and had a successful career and an amazing wife and family. But things were not all they seemed to be … Neil was facing a lot of challenges. In a phrase, he was in a dark place. Quite by accident, he discovered a Higher Road. As he traveled that road, he found the key to transforming his life. Over the course of the following year, Neil lifted himself to an inner state of love, peace, joy, and abundance. His perspectives on life changed entirely. His troubles and tribulations were his impetus to find the key that enabled him to revolutionize his life. He learned that the search for a better life does not entail positive thinking, saying affirmations, chanting mantras, or traveling to India to sit at the feet of a guru—or any other popularized method of “finding yourself.” …The key? To ascend in both spiritual perception and truth, you need to use the right process to break through your entrenched, human-ego barriers.

    Effect on Emotions
    • When you go through this process, mindfulness is part of the tool of helping me be aware of what I'm doing in the moment and with conscious thinking. But actually understanding this foundational stuff, allows that mindfulness to actually give me a different perspective of it. So it's actually becoming more powerful for me; without knowing what I now know about our truth of being or the source of where we come from and why we're here.
    Thoughts on Breathing
    • So when you are anxious or at a heightened state of anxiety, whether that's something that's exciting or fearful, for instance, if you can stop and bring your breath and be conscious and aware of your breath and slow it, the mind controls the body, the breath controls the mind.
    • So if you can actually breathe, you can start to control the anxiety and subdue the anxiety; whatever the source of that is. So breathing is very important in terms of the whole process of getting control of your thinking. Bridging the Gap Between Spirituality and Science

    Bullying Story
    • I was coming home from school. I don't know how old I was, there was a black child. So a black family moved into this community back in the 60s, of all white people. And there was this black child, and he was older than me. So maybe he was in grade five or grade six.
    • There were three older white boys, the same age as this black boy. And they were degrading this boy. They made them kneel down on the ground. I don't want to get into all kinds of specifics on this, but they made him kneel into the ground and they were spitting on him and calling them names.
    • I was like in grade three. I felt sorry for that kid; he didn't deserve that. At the time I felt like these kids should not be doing this. But I thought if I intervened I'd get the crap kicked out of me. So I avoided it but part of me right now would say, I kind of wish that little boy would have had the fortitude to step up and say stop that, even if I got beat up.
    • But you know, I didn't. It was a lesson that has stuck with me about how we treat other people. Bridging the Gap Between Spirituality and Science

So listening to a self-hypnosis recording, about not being triggered has helped me tremendously to be able to notice when I'm triggered, to be able to disassociate, and hit the cool button instead of the hot button has absolutely changed my life. And every time I noticed that I'm getting to that place again, I put that recording on and it reels me right in. Hypnotic Approach to Wellness
    Thoughts on Breathing
    • My favorite, I guess it's not a technique, it's more of a mindfulness technique and it's really a hypnotic induction. So to notice that when I breathe in how the air is cool and refreshing, and to notice that when I exhale, it's warm and relaxing.
    • And doing that just a few times puts me into a beautiful, trance-like state, or depending on the circumstance, it reminds me that it is safe to be here now. Hypnotic Approach to Wellness

    Bullying Story
    • So in middle school, I don't want to say that I was bullied because I saw people, I saw friends being bullied. And that was kind of different than being picked on a little bit. I was very small for my age, sometimes I was referred to as the runt of the family. I was smaller than everyone even though I was the oldest.
    • I was even called an Oompa Loompa for being so tiny and short. So those things kind of stuck with me but as far as being bullied, if you've ever ridden the school bus, bullying happens on the school bus.
    • So I drove my son to school every day. And I think that deep down, I wanted to protect him from what happened on the school bus.
    • I remember one time, some boys in the back of a bus, one boy was holding down the arm of a more scrawny kid. And the other one was just as far as I could tell they were going to break his arm. Therefore, I think mindfulness could have helped if I would have had the courage to say something. Hypnotic Approach to Wellness

    Thoughts on Breathing
    • Notice how much you hold your breath. During the day, just notice.

    Bullying Story
    • I came from an alcoholic family, I was in and out of my own drinking and addiction, many very addictive behaviors with substances. Therefore
    • And I think that this mindful awareness of my own behavior, and realizing that there was something driving me that I was unaware of. As a result of my actions, I would get bullied because other people didn't like what I was doing. Therefore
    • So that awareness that there was something else going on, so much deeper, than I could have possibly worked with, to maybe modify my own behavior, or at least, be able to be with it without all the shame and guilt and things. Therefore
    • And then when the bullying did happen, having the compassion because that's one of the things in meditation is we develop mind states, one of which is loving kindness and so having the compassion for the person, another person to realize that they too, were coming from some kind of place of often fear, that's what usually it is, we're coming out of fear. Therefore
    • It's taken years of therapy, to help me understand that. But in the meditation practice, sitting with memories of that, the thoughts that come up now, the body sensations, especially being able to be with the discomfort, and then also having fond memories that I didn't really remember because there was so much of the kind of bad things that I didn't let them happen. So
    • So when you're still or when you do meditation, even mindfulness in motion, when you let the rest of the world drop away, whether it's through in the writing practice the sitting in moving meditation, the rest of the world rep drops away, and joyous memories can come up.

    What Does IPS Stand For?
    • IPS stands for Inner Path Seekers
    • This project started in 2021. I came up with the idea of creating a platform that just provides educational life topics that we don't learn much anything about from school, or from our parents.
    • It touched on subjects like mental health to the mind, relationships, the body, and the brain.
    • To sum it up, the platform does that through a podcast and online courses, and practical articles. We're also working on events and looking to buy a piece of land and build a community center where we can do workshops as well.
Lessons Learned By Being A World Traveler?
    • I did travel a lot, beginning when I was 18. When I was a teenager I got to a very dark place as I thought life was very boring and dull, and not exciting at all.
    • Traveling just opened up the adventure and the freedom and the possibilities that had not seen. So this is why traveling became a lifesaver to me and showed what more there is out there in life. I'm very thankful that I had that opportunity, so …So
    What Is Your Life's Purpose?
    • I want to help people suffer a little bit less through life. When I was young, I walked very close on the edge between life and death, because I had a lot of dark thoughts about suicide. For instance
    • It's been an incredible motivator on why I'm doing what I'm doing. We just know so little about ourselves, which can then lead some people to very dark places.
    • I'm grateful for everything that I've done to help people who are struggling in life, or are walking on a very close edge between living and dying. But
    Meditation In Your Life…
    • There are certain times in my life when I have done way more meditation. But right now I'm at a point where I don't have an actual practice of meditating every day, I would say that I have more other practices of being just mindful. So
    • I always go for like a morning walk. and that is a simple way for me to meditate.
    • This is just to get my workflow going, but also just to pay attention to my surroundings, feel gratitude for what I'm seeing, and just feel a bit aware of everything around me.
    • That is my form of meditation, just a walking meditation. That's something that I do every day, even if it's raining. So there's always something nice to be grateful for.

    Thoughts on Breathing
    • I'm gonna jump in on that one because I gave birth to nine children. I have learned a little bit about breathing.
    • Just that physical breathing when you're in the moment, because you notice the tension in your shoulders, and you know, when you're in labor, hard labor, it all comes down to breathing, taking your deep breath, and resting.
    • I could just apply that every time I get stressed; that would be amazing.

    • But I think about it most of the time unless it's a true gang situation. So what we're seeing, we're not talking about that, right? That is because they're trying so hard. And usually, they're trying so hard to fit in, and everybody kind of knows that they don't have their own thing going right.
    • So once you start throwing yourself into something, that's where the child may need the parent to help them cross that bridge. When you're good at something and you do it with passion, you start attracting other people who are also interested in a similar topic.

The Mindfulness Of Ice Cream Jul 10, 2022
    Show notes

The Mindfulness of Ice Cream is the topic of my episode today. I will be telling a few stories and then talking about the five Mindfulness aspects of Ice Cream. Do you enjoy ice cream? What's your favourite flavour? Sit back, relax and enjoy today's episode about ice cream.

Listen & Subscribe on: iTunes / Stitcher / Podbean / Overcast / Spotify 1/ The Anticipation
    • Take your time. Take two deep breaths and just imagine what it's going to be like tasting that ice cream. What will the coldness be like? Consider whether the ice cream will be in a bowl or a cone. How will it feel as you hold the bowl in your hand? What is the texture of the bowl? Do you feel the coldness through the bowl? Imagine how the ice cream will feel when it touches your tongue. Take some time to anticipate the upcoming experience. Can you anticipate the flavor and the texture? Can you imagine the sensation as you swallow the delicious ice cream?
    2/ The Texture and Flavour
    • Now you're experiencing the actual ice cream and you take a bit on your tongue. Consider the experience whether you're using a spoon or tasting it from a cone. Put it in your mouth and on your tongue. Experience the flavor, the texture, and the iciness and allow yourself to enjoy the experience.

3/ Can I Preserve This Memory?

    • What would it be like to preserve the memory of this moment? Can you imagine that? You're experiencing the delicious flavor and texture. What would it be like if you could preserve the memory of this very instant in time?

4/ How Does It Make You Feel?

    • How does this make you feel at this very moment? What is the experience like for you? How do you feel in your body? How do you feel as you swallow the ice cream? What is it like to anticipate the next delicious taste of this ice cream?

    5/ Can I Be Passionate?

    • If you could remember it, can you be passionate about this memory?
Is this a passionate experience for you? What could make it more passionate? Just think about the passion that may be connected with this moment. Passion feeds us in our lives and you can allow yourself to go there. Allow yourself to be 100% in the moment with this experience. Allow yourself the pleasure of this moment in time. Now that you have this memory, you can come back to it anytime you want.

    Effect on Emotions
    • I have come to appreciate the value of emotions guiding us to the truth about what we really need.
    • There is no condemnation of any emotion. We understand it as part of the way our mind and our body and our soul informs us.
    Thoughts on Breathing
    • I am into Wim Hof cold therapy and into the breathing. I do the cold therapy twice a day and the breathing once a day.
    • It keeps me alert and strong and is great for my immune system.

    Bullying Story
    • I had a conversation last night with a client who has high levels of anxiety. Much of it had to do with neglect, abuse, and bullying in his history. I was sharing with him about the magnificence of our nervous system and how anxiety helps us understand what we need.
    • Rather than resisting, fighting against or condemning anxiety, we need to allow it to inform us in our bodies and our nervous system about what's going on so we can attend to it.
    • If we can learn how to sooth our nervous system, we can come out of that state.

Divine Trust To Find Your Way Home; Dr. Nancy Wiley Jul 03, 2022
    Show notes

Dr. Nancy Wiley spent 27 years building a highly successful orthodontics practice in Florida. It was the school tragedy in Parkland that spurred her to feel the time was right to create and bring through Divine Trust. With the loss of one of her own patients and the sorrow of so many around her, she felt introducing Divine Trust would be a path to healing for many. From direct experience, she is now absolutely certain that there is a Divine Presence that wants everyone to know It and Trust It.

For the past eight years, she has been enrolled in the Inner Circle of a comprehensive program called Your Year of Miracles where she became clear that her next Divine Assignment was to assist others in opening to the state of Trust in the Divine, as she has done. In her new book, Divine Trust: A Practical Guide to End Suffering and Find Your Way Home,, she lays out a blueprint that anyone can easily follow to achieve this incredible state of Divine bliss and trust for themselves and thereby achieve freedom from suffering.

    Effect on Emotions
    • So mindfulness brings me right here into the present moment with the light of my consciousness.
    • Whatever anxiety is there that I choose to bring into it, and look at it with the light of consciousness in the present moment.
    • So being mindful of it, loving it, choosing to bring light to it.
    Thoughts on Breathing
    • If you're not breathing, you're not in the present moment. So when you're in the past or the future, you're usually holding your breath.
    • It's breathing. It's critical. It's foundational.

    Bullying Story
    • I've never shared this publicly. My family knows it. But in sixth grade, I grew up in a beautiful city called Columbia, Maryland, where they bussed in people from the inner city of Baltimore.
    • There was a gang of girls picking on a little friend of mine, and I was tall for my age. I had no clue what was going on. I said, “Pick on someone your own size”. Consequently, they picked on me, they were brutal. There were about 10 of them and they would find me in the halls, would wait for me after the bus line, and beat me up.
    • I didn't want to go to school and I couldn't tell my mom. They told me if I told anyone I would get beat up more and they'd hurt my family.
    • So the only thing that saved me was that one of their two gang leaders shot her boyfriend in sixth grade. She got put away and the other one became pregnant and she got sent to a juvenile home. That broke up the gang and so there was peace in there.
    • I was so bullied and I had no clue because I was coming from peace and self-respect. But that turned my reality upside down because I almost didn't want to live at that point.
    • I couldn't really say it because it sounded so ridiculous for sixth graders to be afraid for your life.
    • Forgiving everything else that came afterward, forgiving those girls with light and love … just the techniques that I teach melt everything in its path and they work for every single trauma. The mental work has helped the Parkland shooting students who have lived through that event and helped them to with the power of my light.
