Opening to Gladness, A Meditation with Sean Fargo Aug 30, 2023
    Show notes

Who makes your heart sing? Sensing into the presence of someone who loves us deeply, who offers us unconditional kindness, can help us connect to present-moment feelings of gladness. This may be someone we know personally, or anyone we look up to as a source of care and comfort.

In this guided meditation with Sean Fargo, we’re invited to bring to mind one such person, and to sense into the gladness we feel when in their (imagined) presence. We explore that gladness as a sensation in the body and breath. By doing so, we become more familiar with it, and thus potentially more aware of its presence in everyday life.

Please listen in a safe, quiet place where you can be relatively free from distraction. Practice with eyes opened or closed, in a posture that balances comfort with alertness. May this meditation be of benefit to you in your mindfulness journey.

An Apprenticeship with Grief, with Francis Weller Aug 23, 2023
    Show notes

How can we bring mindfulness to grief? Grief is something we all go through, for ourselves, our loved ones, our communities, and our planet. And yet, many of us are afraid to open up to the strong emotions of grief, sorrow and loss.

In this episode, we hear from psychotherapist, author and soul activist Francis Weller on how developing a long-term apprenticeship with grief can help us metabolize our sorrow and stay present for the fullness of this life.

Francis Weller, MFT, is a master of synthesizing diverse streams of thought from psychology, anthropology, mythology, alchemy, indigenous cultures and poetic traditions, a style he calls soul-centered psychotherapy. He is the author of several books on loss, sorrow, and grief, and offers a 4-session audio course, An Apprenticeship with Sorrow: Community, Ritual, and the Sacred Work of Grief.

This talk is a brief excerpt from Francis Weller’s guest teacher presentation to those enrolled in the Mindfulness Exercises Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program. This unique, online, self-paced certification program balances pre-recorded webinars with live mentorship. We Are Capable of Meeting This Moment, A Meditation with Sean Fargo Aug 16, 2023
    Show notes

Each of us is far more capable than we generally give ourselves credit for. This is especially true when it comes to mindfulness meditation. We may feel as though our minds are too busy or full to be still. And yet, we’ve all had glimpses of what it feels like to be fully present in body and mind. Sustaining this presence takes practice, but it’s something we can do.

In this guided meditation with Sean Fargo, we’re invited to place our attention on our natural capacity to meet this moment, just as it is, with presence and awareness. Through this practice, we strengthen this ability, allowing us to meet deeper layers of our experience with mindfulness.

Please listen in a safe, quiet place where you can be relatively free from distraction. Find a posture that balances comfort with alertness, whether standing, seated, or lying down. May this meditation be of benefit to you in your mindfulness journey.

Tending to the Body, A Meditation with Sean Fargo Aug 02, 2023
    Show notes

The body is our home. It carries us through our days and nights, collecting information along the way. Our bodies tell the story of past pleasure and pain, and hold the energy of our thoughts and emotions. Offering our bodies our tender, caring presence can help make this home a more comfortable place.

In this guided meditation with Sean Fargo, we’re invited to stand, sit or lie down with the body, to explore the sensation that is present and offer it our supportive, loving attention. We do so not to reach a specific end goal, but simply to practice accepting and being with what is here.

Please listen in a safe, quiet place where you can be relatively free from distraction. Find a posture that balances comfort with alertness. May this meditation be of benefit to you in your mindfulness journey.
