Meditation For Fidgety Skeptics - Jeff Warren [114] Apr 10, 2018
    Show notes

Talking to Jeff Warren was like talking to my long-lost meditation friend who totally “got it.” His story about how meditation helped him notice the “neurotic ways he was in pain,” will help you understand the power of this practice at a deeper level.

Some big takeaways from this episode include: 1. Everyone can experience the sacred dimension of practice no matter what your background is. 2. The most important equation all humans need to know is: SUFFERING = PAIN X RESISTANCE. 3. Teaching meditation to kids teaches “existence skills” - how to be more compassionate and sane.

Jeff Warren is a meditation teacher and writer, co-author of “Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics,” and author of “The Head Trip,” a guidebook to waking, sleeping and dreaming. Find out more about Jeff at JeffWarren.org.

When Your Cosmic Egg Is Cracked - Cheryl Jones [113] Apr 03, 2018
    Show notes

What do you do when you have little kids and your life falls apart? Cheryl Jones knows that answer to this question all too well. She discovered that her marriage was unravelling at at child's birthday party.

Some big takeaways from this episode include: 1. Social conditioning has lead us not to recognize things in our life as loss. We have to acknowledge what the loss is. We tend to do that to “be strong” for our families. If we don’t acknowledge, it shows up somewhere else. 2. Self-care is not a “nice to have.” 3. How striving sucks the joy out of a day. Non-striving is an attitude of mindfulness - it’s about how we’re going about achieving our goals.

Cheryl Jones, M.A., is a wellness strategist, keynote speaker, and author. She is a mindfulness, resilience, and well-being expert focused on empowering women to grow, thrive, and lead. Find out more about Cheryl at www.themindfulpath.com

How to Make Time for Mindfulness - Hunter & Carla [112] Mar 27, 2018
    Show notes

Hunter talks to Carla Naumburg about How to Make Time For Mindfulness

Some big takeaways from this episode include: 1. Meditation’s impact is dose-dependant. The more you do it, the more you experience the benefits. 2. Consistency is more important than time. What you do every day a little bit matters more than what you do once a week. 3. You can be creative about how you meditate! It can be lying down, in the car, and more.

Sometimes the biggest challenge in learning a new practice like meditation is figuring out how to fit it into your routine. We have those days when it is a feat to even have showered, let alone setting time aside to sit quietly and meditate.

Mentioned in this episode: Debunking the 5 Most Common Meditation Myths by Light Watkins.

How To Be A Scream Free Parent - Hal Runkel [110] Mar 13, 2018
    Show notes

Be prepared to have the ground under your feet shifted by the powerful wisdom of Hal Runkel. He’ll question your basic beliefs and transform the way you think about parenting.

Some big takeaways from this episode include: 1. The most damaging lie of parenting is that we are responsible FOR our children. 2. Kids are born to test us. Parenting asks us that we become grown ups and we do that by becoming less reactive and taking back the power over our emotional responses. 3. The mandate for self-care in the Christian and Hebrew traditions in “Love thy neighbor as you love thyself.” And the tough question that makes us really confront that.

Hal Runkel, Life, Love & Leadership Coach is the New York Times Bestselling Author of ScreamFree Parenting, helping parents create the family life they want most by learning to pause more and react less.
