Show notes The Brewers started with a bang out of the all-star break, then laid consecutive eggs against a last-place team. Brewers reporter Tom Haudricourt and host JR Radcliffe look at the looming trade deadline (specifically how good Kris Bryant would look on this roster), the value Eric Lauer has brought to the table, how things might change when players return from injury, the upcoming weekend series featuring ace pitchers all around and which NL Central contender should most worry Milwaukee.

Freddy Peralta was awesome in the all-star game; could he wind up being this team's ace by the end of the year? Could Christian Yelich's power struggles relate back to his 2019 knee injury? What's the concern level with Josh Hader after a rough week? Plus: Notes from the draft, a couple key returnees from injury and another glance ahead to the trade deadline.

Brewers nearly match Team Streak, but the offense isn't out of the woods yet (07.06.2021) Jul 06, 2021
Show notes The Milwaukee Brewers just went on an 11-game winning streak with the offense pounding out 7.6 runs per game. What in the world? Brewers beat reporter Tom Haudricourt joins host JR Radcliffe to discuss what led to the Brewers' thrilling run and even looks back at Haudricourt's own memories of Team Streak in 1987 (it was Haudricourt who gave that team the catchy name!). The next two games remind us that the offense still has issues, including Keston Hiura and Christian Yelich. The Brewers have to get a bat at the trade deadline, don't they? This upcoming seven (!) game run with the Reds on either side of the all-star break is suddenly pretty important. And Milwaukee has three all-star pitchers; could they add a fourth before it's all said and done?

Is Keston Hiura back to form, just in time for the Cubs to hit Milwaukee? (06.28.2021) Jun 28, 2021
Show notes Brewers beat reporter Tom Haudricourt and host JR Radcliffe take a look at the upcoming battle with the Chicago Cubs now that the first-place Brewers are hot again. Who's going to pitch Wednesday with Brett Anderson injured? The Brewers lost Dan Vogelbach, but has Keston Hiura finally turned a corner as he's shown some life in his return? The Brewers keep finding bullpen gems out of unusual places like Jake Cousins and Miguel Sanchez, Josh Hader continues to be lights out at the back of the bullpen, and "re-opening day" didn't quite bring a capacity crowd to American Family Field, but it's really starting to feel like normal baseball again. Who will be announced Sunday as the Brewers' all-star representatives?

Brewers bullpen weakness showing, but Willy Adames and Luis Urias are still raking (06.21.2021) Jun 21, 2021
Show notes The Milwaukee Brewers came down from a hot streak with five straight losses to open the new week. The good news? Two dramatic wins to close the week in Colorado and keep things from getting out of hand. Brewers beat reporter Todd Rosiak and host JR Radcliffe discuss the team's struggles in the bullpen and continued flatness from parts of the offense, although Willy Adames and Luis Urias sure aren't to blame. Will the team lose patience with Jackie Bradley Jr.? What about Eric Lauer? Should the MLB emphasis on pitching with no foreign substances be of particular concern to a team that relies so much on its pitching?

It's alive! Brewers offense suddenly humming (06.14.2021) Jun 14, 2021
Show notes Brewers beat reporter Todd Rosiak and host JR Radcliffe discuss an offense that has found its groove, with Christian Yelich among the players leading the charge. Travis Shaw is down; can the Brewers ultimately overcome a new hole on their infield? How will this bullpen ultimately look, with potential new contributors like Hunter Strickland and Aaron Ashby in the mix. What about Eric Lauer and his role? Also, we've seen those videos of Ryan Braun crushing baseballs on social media; is there ANY chance of a possible reunion? Also, are the Cubs really going to be this big of a problem?

Suddenly the Brewers offense is on fire, and Freddy Peralta flirts with no-no (06.07.2021) Jun 07, 2021
Show notes Brewers beat reporter Tom Haudricourt and host JR Radcliffe look at the Brewers' sudden surge in power, including some additional promising signs from Christian Yelich. Freddy Peralta flirts with a no-hitter in the latest chapter of his rapid ascent. What's the story with Keston Hiura, and is he really going to remain with the big-league team through his struggles on offense? Brad Boxberger has become indispensable. Luis Urias seems to have found some traction. And after a 15-game winning streak at Triple-A Nashville, they name one player Brewers fans are almost certain to see in 2021 at the big-league level.

Brandon Woodruff is crushing it, but bats remain a puzzle (05.31.2021) May 31, 2021
Show notes Brewers beat reporter Todd Rosiak and host JR Radcliffe discuss the continued brilliance of Brandon Woodruff and a week where Milwaukee won five of seven, but the same offensive struggles have lingered. Keston Hiura can't find his groove upon return to the big leagues, Christian Yelich is getting back to form slowly, and the corner infield spots haven't been contributing. The Brewers already made a bunch of roster moves in recent weeks (farewell to Josh Lindblom and Billy McKinney); will there be more? Also, hello to Willy Adames!

Willy Adames trade marks an abrupt end to Luis Urias at short, and is Christian Yelich back? (05.24.2021) May 24, 2021
Show notes Brewers beat reporter Tom Haudricourt and host JR Radcliffe take a look at the Willy Adames trade and what it signifies for Luis Urias going forward. They revisit a couple recent transactions that have been made to look dubious as a result -- the team's decision to deal Orlando Arcia and the Trent Grisham trade before the 2020 season that brought Urias to Milwaukee. Plus: A productive Sunday marks a huge sign of encouragement for Christian Yelich, Keston Hiura is mashing at Class AAA Nashville and Adrian Houser has become an enigma.

Are there any solutions for a struggling offense? (05.17.2021) May 17, 2021
Show notes Brewers beat reporter Todd Rosiak joins host JR Radcliffe to discuss Milwaukee's scuffling offense, and if there are any possible in-house solutions to fix it. How long will Jackie Bradley Jr. be in the lineup with his struggling bat (and can you afford to lose his flashy glove)? Is hitting coach Andy Haines' job in jeopardy? How concerned should the Brewers be about Luis Urias' defensive issues, especially after a rough day Sunday when the offense finally came around? What's up with Brent Suter? After itemizing the reasons why the Brewers might just never get a no-hitter again earlier this year, suddenly it looks within reach.
