LL Cool J is giving his two cents following the viral video of Country star Miranda Lambert calling out fans for taking a selfie at her show.
"Miranda, get over it, baby," the rapper said with a good laugh during his July 19 appearance on Audacy’s Mercedes in the Morning. "They're fans."
Lambert has been receiving endless heat after she was caught on film boldly calling out a group of women from the stage in the middle of a song to ask them to stop taking selfies. "I'm going to stop right here for a second," Lambert said from the stage of her Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater. "These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song. It's pissing me off a little bit. I don't like it. At all.”
The experience Lambert’s fans had is something LL ensures his will never experience at one of his shows as he encourages his fans to engage however they please. “What, we got rules?" He laughed. “No yellow shirts!” He joked before sharing his perspective.
"Your job as an artist is to create art. The way people choose to interact with that art—or engage it or appreciate it—is up to them."
He continued, “If you want to come to my show and eat a bowl of potato salad with a baseball hat down to your nose — that’s what you choose to do. You gotta let the fans do what they wanna do.”
Clearly not in agreement with how Lambert handled the situation, the rapper was quick to clarify he’s “not going to judge" Miranda for how she wants her fans to behave. "I have nothing unkind to say about her,” the 55-year-old added. "I wish her the best. She has the right to her feelings but for me, I let the fans be fans and do what they want to do."
LL is currently in the midst of his The F.O.R.C.E. Live tour, which stands for "Frequencies of Real Creative Energy.” Tickets for the trek, which is his first in 30 years, are on sale now. Find them here.
