Because I Come From A Crazy Family: The Making Of A Psychiatrist Jul 04, 2018
    Show notes

Whew! What a show this one was with Dr. Edward "Ned" Hallowell and our host, Kristin Sunanta Walker. Even our editors were inspired after listening to this one!
When Dr. Hallowell was eleven, a voice out of nowhere told him he should become a psychiatrist. A mental health professional of the time would have called this psychosis. But he took it in stride, despite not quite knowing what “psychiatrist” meant. With a psychotic father, alcoholic mother, abusive stepfather, and two so-called learning disabilities of his own, Ned was accustomed to unpredictable behavior from those around him, and to a mind he felt he couldn’t always control. The voice turned out to be right.
Because I Come from a Crazy Family, tells the often strange story of a childhood marked by what he calls the “WASP triad” of alcoholism, mental illness, and politeness, and explores the wild wish, surging beneath his incredible ambition, that he could have saved his own family of drunk, crazy, and well-intentioned eccentrics, and himself.

Narcissism or Asperger's? Keys to Working with Challenging Relationships Jul 02, 2018
    Show notes

Stephanie Holmes joins us again but this time to discuss a controversial topic but one that she helps many people with on a daily basis. Understanding the crucial differences when it comes to a personality disorder as opposed to Autism Spectrum Disorder is one of her specialties. Stephanie is a board Certified Christian Counselor and Certified Autism Specialist.
She believes counseling begins with the an understanding that we are physiological, psychological, and spiritual persons. Because of this belief, Christian principles are blended with compatible psychological techniques and theories in order to promote psychological, relational, and spiritual growth through counseling. Counseling is a process that promotes positive change, but the overall decision to change and apply various techniques is the sole choice and responsibility of the counselee. I provide counseling services for individuals, couples, and families.
Read her excellent article on the subject here.

How To Get Your Sh!T Together with Zachary Phillips Jul 01, 2018

His second book "How To Get Your Sh!t Together" is a synthesis of all of the different tips, tricks, systems, habits and ideas that he uses to overcome anxiety, defeat depression, move on from trauma, get organised, find meaning and follow dreams.

Eyes Wide Open: Look for 7 Warning Signs You Are Dealing with Nefarious People Jun 19, 2018
    Show notes

You live and learn, often from nefarious people. Join Stephen Kavalkovich of Rescue the Rescuer and Kristin Walker as they discuss the widely downloaded YouTube video about people with evil intent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl1-hi43QT0&feature=youtu.be
    1. They mislead you - lying, mixing untruths with truth in order to confuse.
    2. Victimhood - they could be sitting in prison for lying to authorities or worse, far worse but somehow their life choices become your fault.
    3. They are not sorry - Not for you. Only for themselves and that they got caught.
    4. They love controlling people - Lying takes a tremendous amount of effort and is used to control information to best serve their needs. Sociopaths want a roof over their head, food to eat, and place to hide from bills such as child support, and a ton of praise by willing and unwilling partners as well as the public.
    5. Always denying things - Gaslighting and word salad. You'll notice that people go to war for them in defense. This chaos is created on purpose through their crocodile tears and denials of the truth. Drama and chaos surround them wherever they go and a long list of debts that will never be repaid.
    6. They steal your time - Your emotional capital, your financial resources, your time. Two toxic people together - Double the trouble for eveyone in their ever shrinking sphere of influence.
    7. People warn you about them - Family members, old associates, former friends, current partners who often recant will warn you to stay away.
    Keep your eyes Wide Open.
