Non-Intentional Lifeform - Uisce (1997) [w/ Andrew Day of N.I.L.] Aug 10, 2021

Show notes

MEEPING OR EXISTING
This week we take a trip down under to Australia in the unlikely city of PERTH for the first signing to Roadrunner's Australia branch: Non-Intentional Lifeform.
Members of N.I.L. have gone on to toss coins at Superman and play in other Aussie luminaries such as KILLING HEIDI. We get the rundown of the entire history of the band from multi-instrumentalist Andrew Day.
From improving songs to touring with Korn all within the same 12 months, this is a truly personal and inspiring journey of a young band being thrust into the world of rock 'n roll.
So don't be a bogan; just grab a quokka and tell me if people really eat bloomin' onions while we hear the story of ISH-KA.

Dislocated Styles - Pin the Tail on the Honkey (2001) [w/ Ed Udhus of Zebrahead and Greg, Joe, Chuck, & Jason of Dislocated Styles] Aug 04, 2021

Show notes

POSSESSED BY MEEPSTERS!
Get unified in tha mix with Dislocated Styles. We're joined by nearly tha whole band to discuss their career as they come into Roadrunner via A&Rtist Kevin Estrada (Spineshank, Chimaira).

DisLo is signed during an exciting & eclectic time for tha label not to mention tha rap'n'roll hotbed of Arizona PLUS...I make an important monologue about Alien Ant Farm AND once reference tha Phunk Junkeez.

PTTOTH is produced by Howard Benson whose name is held in houses now but I first became aware of HB when he produced tha first songs by one of my favorite bands growing up - ZEBRAHEAD.

ZH drummer Ed actually plays on tha Dislocated Styles album too so he was gracious enough to tell us about working with Howard, tracking tha DS song, my AIM screen name, and the future of Zebrahead.

So let's spin some tales about pinning tails on an all-new Meep Meep!

Boy Wonder - Wonder-Wear (1997) [w/ Dave River of Tree & Paula Kelley of Boy Wonder] Jul 30, 2021

Show notes

MEEPSION TO DESTROY
In 1997, wanting to get in on tha ever dominating "alternative" scene, Roadrunner acquired a small indie label called CherryDisc from Boston, MA who'd had success with Semisonic & Letters to Cleo among others.⁣ Among those who made tha migration from CD to RR were BOY WONDER whose sole full-length "Wonder-Wear" came out on tha Big Bird.
They were fronted by former Dropnineteens guitarist Paula Kelley and she takes us on tha journey to and through tha album!⁣ One band on CherryDisc who did NOT move were TREE. Frontman Dave "River" was featured on Shootyz Groove's RR release but never got one to himself. He tells about recording that song "Diamond Mind" with Shootyz as well as other TREE TRIVIA like being covered by Powerman 5000.
All this and NOTHING ELSE on a brand new Meep Meep!

Madball - Demonstrating My Style (1996) [w/ Matt Henderson of Madball & Rob Iler aka AJ Soprano] May 18, 2021

Show notes

TIMES ARE MEEPINGWe round out 1996 with the 25th anniversary of Madball's sophomore slammer: DEMONSTRATING MY STYLE. ⁣⁣Rob Iler (actor, athlete) portrayed AJ Soprano on the HBO series The Sopranos. AJ had an extensive collection of Roadrunner Records merch throughout the show as well as posters of RR bands permeating tha sets. Rob tells us about Demonstrating HIS Style on tha show...get it?!...sick.⁣⁣Madball's '94 debut Set It Off is a landmark in hardcore and music in general, so when it was time to make the follow-up, the band didn't just recreate the same formula a 2nd time. We reflect on that evolution with Matt Henderson and what sets this album apart 25 years later.⁣⁣Check out Rob on his show @PajamaPantsPodcast⁣⁣Check out Matt's current band @TheEulogyCA⁣
