    S3 E16 Patreon Exclusive: a preview! Mar 28, 2022
    Show notes

Going back to 2012, when Meat For Tea had exclusive CDs included in each issue, this conversation was recorded via Google Voice with Scratch Acid and The Jesus Lizard's David Yow. Yow is also an actor and visual artist, and contributed the front cover for the Camomile issue at that point. There were only 50 CDs made at that time, so this is a rarity from the archives. Please note that internet voice recording isn't as good as it kind of is today.

    Show notes

In this episode, Elizabeth has a lengthy chat with author John Sheirer, author of the book Stumbling Through Adulthood: Linked Stories, where they discuss, amongst many things, the teaching of writing, some politics, and much more (including a mutual love of the Real Housewives franchise!)
John Sheirer (pronounced “shy-er”) lives in Northampton, Massachusetts, with his wonderful wife, Betsy, and happy dog, Libby. He has taught writing and communications for 29 years at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield, Connecticut, where he also serves as editor and faculty advisor for Freshwater Literary Journal (submissions welcome). He writes a monthly column on current events for his hometown newspaper, the Daily Hampshire Gazette, and his books include memoir, fiction, poetry, educational materials, essays, political satire, and photography.

S3 E11 Matt Tarlecki of Abandoned Building Brewery Feb 07, 2022
    Show notes

After years of collaboration on the Meat For Tea Cirques and other events like 100 Thousand Poets For Change, and Poems, Prose and Pints with Matt and his excellent brewery, Abandoned Building Brewery (aaaand! Let's dedicate this episode also to the superior staff at the brewery as well - you'll be hard pressed to find a better bunch of folks!) we thought it overdue to chat with him about his roots, how the brewery came to be, and more! Grab your favorite beverage (may I recommend their Cool Beans coffee stout, if that's your kind of thing - Mark) and tuck right in!
    Visit www.abandonedbuildingbrewery.com for more details!

To revisit some episodes regarding Black History Month and Black Lives Matter discussions - and beyond - please check out S2 E12 with Kimaya Diggs, S1 E17 with Nicole Young and Kaliis Smith (with music from Pamela Means as well) S1 E16 with Khalif Neville, for starters!

S3 E10 Miranda Brown and Brian Marchese Jan 25, 2022
    Show notes

We sure had a great time talking with Miranda Brown and Brian Marchese for this episode! Miranda is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has not only her own recordings and performances in her dossier, but has played with many luminaries like AC Newman, The New Pornographers, Ryan Adams, Crooked Fences, The Lonesome Brothers, Eric Bachman, David Dondero, The Space Elevators, and Oh No Oh My. Brian also is a multi-instrumentalist, known widely for his drumming and, aside from his own solo project Sitting Next To Brian, is or has been a part of many great bands like The Fawns, School For The Dead, Gentle Hen, Lo-Fine, Goldwater, The Figments, The Mal Thursday Quintet, Our Wicked Hearts, and many more, and has played on records by such cool folks like Mark Mulcahy and Haunt. There's so much covered in here - it's a long one (but worth it!) - including sharing some memories and cool stories of their musical careers, and a lot more outside of just music. Songs featured during the conversation: Glacier - "Snow" Our Wicked Hearts - "I Should Go" Pineapples - "Early Waters" The Fawns - "Sun" Miranda Brown and band - "The Get Around"

Gerald Yelle and Richard Horton are two of Meat For Tea's most loyal contributors - and participants in the live release parties (the Cirques) and are featured in several of our episodes going back to Cirques past, so do seek those out as well! And stay tuned to the end for some new 6 word stories from the folks over on the Meat For Teacast Facebook page. Special co-host again, Sebastian!
