Getting Real About Body Image, Part One Jul 11, 2022
    Show notes

In the first-part of the follow up episodes to Danielle's solo episode, Adam is finally confronted with questions concerning how he really feels about Danielle's changing body. The two discuss the numerous and honest reactions to the solo episode, the miscommunication about self-esteem they've had for so long, and why Danielle feels the word, "laziness" is so problematic. Plus, why is sex based on connection so much better and deeper than sex based on physicality? What really turns them on about one another, and what do they need to work on in the future to ensure that neither of them feels self conscious? This episode is raw, real, and extremely vulnerable. It's also dedicated to any couples out there who are struggling with the harsh expectations we face concerning bodies and intimacy.

    Is She....Letting Herself Go?? Jun 20, 2022
    Show notes

Warning: This episode discusses body image, disordered eating, and other complex relationships with food and exercise. Please take care while listening.

This is Danielle's first solo episode in over three years. However, the response she's gotten to some more recent episodes in which she gets very vulnerable about body image and the all-consuming aspects of trying to attain a certain physique, made it clear to her that she needed to dig deeper into the topic by herself before tackling the the subject with Adam. Danielle discusses everything from what she was told about her weight growing up, to the numerous diet plans she's tried (and failed), to her biggest fears regarding body acceptance. This episode is raw, emotional, and will most likely be relatable to many who have endured the shame and scrutiny caused by diet culture. What does she want Adam (and so many partners) to understand? How does she want to live her life from this point forward? What struggles have exhausted her emotionally and physically? It's all in this episode. Listen, and then send it to someone else who might need a little more self-love and to feel less alone.

Don't Slut-Shame the Cat and Other Musings on Life May 31, 2022
    Show notes

In this episode, Danielle and Adam spend some time catching everyone up on their crazy recent adventures, including new kittens being born in their backyard, and how Danielle had to learn to trap the feral mama cat in order to get her spayed. Plus, what's on their summer bucket list, considering all three kids will be out of the house at the same time for almost three weeks. As always, life is nuts in the Silverstein household, but luckily it also makes for some hilarious conversation.

Permission to Have Hard Conversations, With Jo Piazza May 16, 2022
    Show notes

In this episode, Danielle sat down with author, journalist, and podcaster Jo Piazza, to talk all about the importance of hard conversations in relationships (romantic and platonic) and why we need to stop avoiding them. The two of them discuss Jo's new book, We Are Not Like Them, which Jo co-wrote with her friend, Christine Pride. The story follows tan interracial friendship which is tested in many ways when one of their husbands (a police officer), shoots a black teenage boy. Danielle asks Jo all about the writing process and how nerve-wracking it must have been to tackle such an intensely polarizing topic. They also discuss why this was such a topic to explore head on no matter how uncomfortable, and how the timing played a huge role. Danielle and Jo also talk about Jo's podcast, Under The Influence, and how Jo is now delving into the complexities of social media and how it affects women especially, and why these platforms are such a mixture of positives and negatives. According to Jo, we need to talk about all of these truths in society, no matter how much it makes us nervous and uncomfortable. You do not need to have read Jo Piazza's books or listened to her podcasts to enjoy this episode. However, after listening, we're pretty sure you'll want to.
