    Vani Devi chantes the Kirtan of the Hanuman Chalisa, written by Tulsidas (1532-1623) in Awadhi language. "Chalisa" is derived from the Hindi word "chali" which simply means forty and because the kirtan about Hanuman has forty verses, it got the title of "Hanuman Chalisa".
