In this lecture, Neville Goddard explores the profound meaning of Jeremiah 15:16: "Thy words were found, and I ate them, and thy words became to me the joy and delight of my heart; for I am called by Thy name, O Lord, God of hosts."

Neville explains that to "eat" God's words means to assimilate and embody them, transforming one's entire understanding of reality. Once fully absorbed, these words reveal a staggering truth: you are God in human form—the creator of all things.

Key Themes:

The Power of God's Name – "I AM"
- God's name is not a word to be recited but an identity to be realized: "I AM."
- When Moses asked for God's name, the answer was "I AM THAT I AM." (Exodus 3:14).
- Every time we say "I am," we invoke the creative power of God within us.
The Name That Answers Every Call
- Many pray in the name of Jesus or Jehovah but receive no answer because they misunderstand the nature of the name.
- Neville clarifies that the true name of God—the only name that responds—is "I AM."
- Whatever we assume about ourselves using "I am," we become.
The Law in Action – A Testimony of Imagination
- A man from the Midwest attempted for years to help his ailing mother and brother by sending them metaphysical books, but they never read them.
- After learning Neville’s teachings, he stopped sending books and instead imagined holding a letter from his brother stating that both he and their mother were healthy.
- Within three weeks, he received the exact letter he had imagined—word for word.
Imagining Creates Reality
- We are not at the mercy of external conditions; rather, our inner world dictates our outer experience.
- If we assume something to be true and persist in the assumption, it must externalize in the world.
The Revelation of Christ Within
- The Bible is not a historical account but a spiritual revelation unfolding within every individual.
- Christ is not a man external to us but our own divine imagination awakening within.
- When Christ fully awakens, we recognize our divine nature as the Father—revealed through the Son, David.
The Inevitability of Spiritual Awakening
- God, having given Himself completely to man, must ultimately bring man to the realization that he is God.
- This revelation happens through a series of mystical experiences, culminating in the recognition of David as one's Son—confirming that the individual is the Father.
Faith in Action – Living by the Law
- Neville urges his audience to test the Law by assuming the feeling of their wish fulfilled.
- "Live by faith" means to assume and trust that your imaginal act will harden into fact.

Conclusion:

This lecture is a powerful reminder that God’s name—"I AM"—is our true identity. By consciously assuming and living from the state of our desired reality, we prove that imagining creates reality. The ultimate realization comes when we see David and recognize ourselves as the Father, fulfilling God's promise to give Himself fully to us.

In The Foundation Stone: Imagination, Neville Goddard teaches that imagination is the foundation of reality. He explains that the universe responds to our imaginative acts, and nothing exists independently of perception. The Bible’s "foundation stone" symbolizes imagination, which many reject, yet it is the true creative power. Using Peter's story, Neville illustrates how belief wavers when people turn to external efforts instead of trusting imagination. He emphasizes the importance of unwavering faith, patience, and detachment from the "how" of manifestation. Through real-life examples, he shows how persistence in imagination leads to success in unexpected ways.

Key Concepts & Application

Imagination is the Creative Power → Everything in your life is a reflection of your imagination.
Remain Faithful to Your Assumption → Once you imagine a desired outcome, do not doubt or try to force it externally.
The Universe Responds → What you vividly assume as true will manifest in ways you cannot predict.
Rejection of the "Stone" → Many ignore imagination’s power and instead rely on external effort.
Patience is Key → Some manifestations take time; do not waver or react negatively if results aren’t immediate.
All is Connected → Your thoughts and emotions influence others, shaping reality beyond your awareness.

ABOUT NEVILLE GODDARD:

Neville Goddard (1905-1972), was an English writer, speaker and mystic. He grew up in Barbados and moved to the United States of America as a young adult.

Neville Goddard was perhaps the last century’s most intellectually substantive and charismatic purveyor of the philosophy generally called New Thought. He wrote more than ten books under the solitary pen name Neville, and was a popular speaker on metaphysical themes from the late 1930s until his death in 1972.

Possessed of a self-educated and uncommonly sharp intellect, Neville espoused a spiritual vision that was bold and total: Everything you see and experience, including other people, is the result of your own thoughts and emotional states. Each of us dreams into existence an infinitude of realities and outcomes. When you realize this, Neville taught, you will discover yourself to be a slumbering branch of the Creator clothed in human form, and at the helm of limitless possibilities.

Neville’s thought system influenced a wide range of spiritual thinkers and writers, from bestselling author Dr. Joseph Murphy to Rhonda Byrne and Wayne Dyer.

In A Mystical Experience, Neville Goddard explains that life is a divine play where God becomes man so that man may become God. The transformation begins with God's crucifixion in man—his descent into human consciousness—and ends with man’s resurrection as God. This mystical process unfolds through direct, personal experiences, not external teachings. The Bible is a symbolic revelation of this journey, culminating in the birth of Christ within. Neville shares his personal mystical experiences of being "born from above," where he emerges from his skull and witnesses the birth of a divine child. He later encounters the biblical David, recognizing him as his own son, proving his identity as God the Father. These experiences affirm that man’s destiny is to awaken as God through the fulfillment of scriptural prophecy.

Key Concepts & Application

Life is a Divine Play → God becomes man so that man may awaken as God.
Imagination is God → Your imagination is the divine power that creates reality.
Crucifixion and Resurrection → The journey of spiritual awakening begins with God "dying" in man and ends with man realizing his divinity.
The Birth from Above → The spiritual birth occurs within the individual, signified by the emergence of the Christ child.
Biblical Symbols are Personal Experiences → The stories in the Bible are mystical events that unfold within you.
Recognition of David → Seeing David as one’s son signifies realizing oneself as God the Father.
Test the Truth → Through inner experience, not external doctrine, one comes to know their divine nature.

In this lecture, The Pure in Heart, Neville explores the true meaning of the sixth Beatitude: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” He clarifies that purity of heart is not about moral or sexual purity but about being free from deceit, particularly deception for personal gain. The pure in heart are those who are incapable of guile, who never manipulate, lie, or exploit others to serve their own interests.

Neville explains that life is a process of refining the soul, symbolized as gold, through the furnaces of experience. These trials are meant to burn away all deception until what remains is pure gold—represented by David, the biblical symbol of a heart perfectly aligned with God. When a person reaches this state, they are spiritually prepared to ascend and stand in God’s presence. At that moment, they receive the divine imprint and awaken to their true identity as God.

He emphasizes that this process is inevitable for everyone. No one escapes the trials, and all will eventually be purified. The ultimate test is whether, even in moments of extreme hardship, one remains honest and guileless rather than seeking advantage at another’s expense. When this purity is achieved, the individual is revealed as Jesse—the "I AM"—and recognizes their divine nature.

Key Takeaways for Application:

Purity of Heart Means Freedom from Deception – Being pure in heart does not mean moral perfection but a total absence of guile. Never deceive others for personal gain.
Life’s Trials Are Refining You – Every hardship is a furnace designed to burn away deceit and refine your soul into pure gold, preparing you for divine awakening.
The Key to Seeing God Is Guilelessness – Only those who are completely honest in their intentions and incapable of manipulation can stand in God’s presence and receive divine revelation.
David Represents the Purified Soul – The biblical David is symbolic of the perfected heart, and once this purity is achieved, the divine imprint is made upon you.
God’s Presence Is Within You – The moment you become pure in heart, you will experience the presence of God and awaken to the realization that you are one with Him.
No One Fails This Journey – Regardless of where you are in life, you are being shaped and tested until you reach purity. Everyone will ultimately pass through this process and awaken.
Your “I AM” is Jesse, the Source of Your Being – The realization of your divine nature comes when you understand that Jesse (I AM) is the father of David (your purified soul), completing your transformation into God.
Remain Honest Even in Hardship – No matter how difficult life becomes, resist the temptation to deceive others for survival or gain. Holding to integrity is the final test before awakening.

By applying these principles, you align yourself with the spiritual process that leads to divine realization and the fulfillment of the Beatitude: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

In this lecture, Neville Goddard explores the concept of Imaginism, emphasizing that imagination is the supreme power that creates and sustains the universe. He asserts that man is all imagination and that God exists within every individual. Neville discusses the importance of revising past events, the role of vision in awakening, and the necessity of breaking down mental structures that hinder spiritual growth. He references Douglas Fawcett, a philosopher who arrived at Imaginism after eliminating other ideas, supporting Neville's teachings on the transformative power of imagination. Neville encourages individuals to reshape their realities through imagination, overcome reason, and awaken to their divine nature.

Key Takeaways:

Imagination is Supreme
- The universe and man are created and sustained by imagination, which Neville equates with God.
- To awaken spiritually, one must fully grasp their own invisibility as pure imagination.
Destruction of Mental Structures
- The Bible's message of buildings falling refers not to physical structures but to mental constructs.
- Long-standing beliefs, teachings, and doctrines must collapse individually for true awakening to occur.
Revision as a Spiritual Practice
- Past events can be revised through imagination, which leads to a transformation of present and future reality.
- Neville refers to Fawcett’s validation of revision as knowledge coming from the Divine Society—a higher realm of awakened individuals.
Speaking with Authority
- True teachers of imagination speak with conviction because they have experienced the truth.
- Neville emphasizes that those who truly understand Imaginism do not merely repeat others' words but speak from direct experience.
Overcoming Reason and Living in Imagination
- The ‘specter of reason’ stands between man and his true self, preventing him from accepting imagination as reality.
- Man must cast reason aside and fully immerse himself in his imagined world to transform his reality.
Individual Awakening
- Awakening does not happen collectively but individually, as each person breaks free from conditioned thinking.
- Every individual will eventually awaken to their divine nature, as God’s plan ensures that no one is lost.
Grace and Effort
- 90% of awakening is by grace, and only 10% is by effort.
- While effort is necessary, the vast majority of transformation is a divine gift.
Faith in the Creative Power of Imagination
- Neville urges his audience to live nobly, remain faithful to their dreams, and continuously create new realities rather than becoming attached to their past creations.
The Role of Vision in Spiritual Growth
- Visions serve as signposts of one's spiritual progress, confirming the truth of scriptural revelations.
- True visions, not mental conjecture, are what remain after all false structures collapse.
Fire of Experience

This world is a purifying fire, and life is a journey through experience, ultimately leading to spiritual rebirth.
Every individual will emerge from this fire transformed, returning to their divine nature.

Conclusion:

Neville Goddard’s Fawcett’s Letter reinforces the foundational belief that imagination is God and that awakening requires the destruction of mental constructs, acceptance of vision, and the practice of revising one’s past experiences. He encourages individuals to break free from reason, trust in their imagination, and embrace the divine journey toward self-realization. By doing so, man will ultimately rediscover his true identity as God.

In this lecture, Neville Goddard explores two spiritual diets described in the Bible: bread and fish (material manifestation through imagination) and bread and wine (spiritual awakening through forgiveness). He explains that while imagination can be used to create and transform physical circumstances, true transformation and spiritual rebirth occur when one practices unconditional forgiveness.

The bread and wine symbolize the ability to distinguish between individuals and the states they occupy, allowing one to free others from limiting conditions. Neville emphasizes that God plays all roles and that awakening happens when one internalizes this truth. The Western Gate—symbolizing touch and mutual forgiveness—must open for the Lamb of God to be born within. Ultimately, the lecture calls for self-awareness, conscious creation, and the practice of divine love through forgiveness.

Key Takeaways:

Imagination Creates Reality
- The Bible teaches that believing in the fulfillment of a desire will bring it to pass (Mark 11).
- Persistence in imagining and feeling the reality of desires ensures their manifestation.
Two Spiritual Diets: Bread & Fish vs. Bread & Wine
- Bread and Fish: The use of imagination to obtain material desires.
- Bread and Wine: Spiritual nourishment through forgiveness and the recognition of divine unity.
The Power of Forgiveness
- True forgiveness involves distinguishing between a person and the state they occupy.
- By mentally lifting others into a better state, one facilitates their transformation.
The Lamb of God and Spiritual Rebirth
- The birthplace of the Lamb of God is where enemies forgive each other completely.
- Awakening occurs when one internalizes that God plays all roles.
The Western Gate – The Gateway to Spiritual Awakening
- The Western Gate symbolizes touch—the ability to mentally embrace even one’s enemies.
- Opening this gate allows the divine within to awaken.
No One is Beyond Redemption
- Every individual is God in different states of consciousness.
- Condemnation reinforces unlovely states, while forgiveness frees individuals from them.
Transformation is Internal
- One must shift their consciousness internally before reality changes externally.
- This can be applied to material goals (bread and fish) or spiritual awakening (bread and wine).
Faith and Persistence Are Key
- Holding a vision persistently, whether for oneself or others, will lead to manifestation.
- "70 times 7" signifies the necessity of repeatedly uplifting others.
The Physical World is a Reflection of the Mind
- All structures—mental and external—must eventually collapse in the pursuit of truth.
- Physical possessions are temporary, but spiritual awakening leads to true fulfillment.
Awakening Happens Individually

The path to self-realization is personal and cannot be imposed by external systems.
True awakening is recognizing that “I and my Father are one.”

In this lecture, Neville Goddard explores the progressive revelation of God’s name throughout the Bible, showing how humanity's understanding of the divine has evolved. He traces this journey from Enosh, when men first began calling upon the Lord, to Jacob, who wrestled with God but was denied His name, to Moses, who was finally given the name “I Am,” and finally to Jesus, who revealed the ultimate name of God as “Father.”

Neville emphasizes that God’s name is not external but is within each person, and that to misuse or misunderstand it is to blaspheme against oneself. He explains that many people fail in life because they unknowingly blaspheme by saying things like “I am sick,” “I am poor,” or “I am unwanted,” rather than using the power of "I Am" to affirm what they actually desire.

Ultimately, Neville teaches that the highest revelation of God is not just “I Am” but “Father”—a realization that comes when one awakens spiritually and encounters the Son, David, who confirms that the individual is, in fact, God the Father.

Key Takeaways

The Bible Reveals God's Name in Stages
- First, Enosh begins to call upon the Lord.
- Then, Jacob wrestles with God but is denied the name.
- Next, Moses receives the name “I Am” as God's eternal identity.
- Finally, Jesus reveals God’s ultimate name as “Father.”
“I Am” is the Name of God and the Key to Manifestation
- Everything you affirm after “I Am” will externalize in your life.
- Misusing “I Am” (e.g., “I am sick” or “I am poor”) is blasphemy against God.
- To avoid this, you must consciously assume the state of being you desire.
Blasphemy Against God's Name Brings “Stoning” (Limitation)
- In biblical terms, stoning represents the facts of life contradicting your desires.
- If you misuse “I Am,” reality will throw stones at you in the form of hardship.
- Example: A wealthy man who once used “I Am” to create riches but later forgot it and began saying, “I am sick,” thus manifesting illness.
God’s Final Revelation is That He is Father
- Jesus’ ultimate teaching was: “Holy Father, keep them in thy name.”
- The moment of awakening comes when David appears and calls you Father.
- This is the final proof that you are God.
You Must Trust in God's Name and Use It Wisely
- Psalm 9:10: “Those who know Thy name put their trust in Thee.”
- Your trust should not be in money, status, or others—but in the power of “I Am.”
- To apply this principle, assume your desired state as already real, and remain faithful to it.
The “Ox” (Christ) Gores and Offends Those Who Reject This Truth
- Just as Jesus offended religious leaders by claiming “I Am God,” this teaching will offend some.
- Those who reject it will metaphorically “sell it for 30 pieces of silver” (a symbol of denying divine truth).
- The challenge is whether you will accept the name and power of God within you or reject it due to preconceived beliefs.
Everything in Your Life Reflects How You Use God's Name
- You cannot leave behind your “I Am”—it follows you wherever you go.
- If you are not living the life you want, it is because of how you are using “I Am.”
- Take control of your assumptions and use “I Am” consciously to create the life you desire.

Neville’s lecture ultimately serves as both a spiritual revelation and a practical guide to manifestation, reminding us that our own consciousness is God, and we shape our lives by how we use His name—“I Am.”

In this lecture, Neville Goddard contrasts the law, which governs our earthly experience, with grace, which is the divine gift of spiritual birth. He explains that while the law operates on the principle of “as you sow, so shall you reap,” grace is entirely unearned and beyond human effort.

The law is mental causation—the ability to shape reality through imagination and assumption. If one assumes a state, life will rearrange itself to bring that state into physical form. However, no matter how skillfully one uses this law, it does not qualify them for the second birth. Grace is God's gift of Himself to man, a spiritual awakening that happens by divine will, not human effort.

Neville describes his own experience of grace as a series of profound mystical events: first, the realization of being born from above; second, the revelation of God's son, David, calling him Father; and third, his ascension into divine unity. These experiences confirm that salvation is not achieved but bestowed.

He warns against mistaking the mastery of manifestation for spiritual salvation, emphasizing that while the law can improve one's life, only grace can free one from the cycle of recurrence and bring them into God's eternal temple.

Key Takeaways

The Law is Mental Causation – You Reap What You Sow
- “Be not deceived, God is not mocked. Whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)
- Every assumption, whether conscious or unconscious, produces its corresponding reality.
- This law operates automatically; by assuming a state, you create the bridge of events leading to its fulfillment.
You Can Use the Law to Manifest Anything, But It Won’t Save You
- The law can bring wealth, fame, and success, but it cannot bring salvation.
- Many who master the law still find themselves unfulfilled because they remain on the “wheel of recurrence.”
- Salvation is a divine gift and cannot be earned through effort or moral behavior.
Grace is the Second Birth – A Gift, Not a Reward
- Just as we did not cause our physical birth, we cannot cause our spiritual birth.
- Grace is God's gift of Himself, awakening man to his true identity as God the Father.
- This experience comes unexpectedly and is not based on personal merit.
The Three Stages of Grace (Spiritual Awakening)
- First: The birth from above—awakening within the skull and realizing one is entombed.
- Second: The revelation of David as the Son of God, confirming one’s identity as the Father.
- Third: The ascension, where the individual is drawn into divine unity.
The Rich Man & The Eye of the Needle – What It Really Means
- “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.” (Matthew 19:24)
- This does not refer to material wealth but to spiritual complacency—those who are too self-satisfied to seek truth.
- The spiritually “poor” are those who hunger for God and are willing to let go of their attachments.
You Cannot Earn or Force Salvation – It is Given According to God's Will
- Many believe they must “do” something to be saved, but Jesus said, “With man, it is impossible, but with God, all things are possible.”
- God awakens man according to His own plan and purpose.
- No one will be lost—all will eventually be called and redeemed.
Your Past Does Not Disqualify You from Grace
- No one is worthy of the second birth, yet everyone will receive it.
- If salvation were based on merit, no one would attain it.
- Grace erases all past transgressions; divine mercy exceeds human judgment.
