In under two weeks, French students went from asking for more teachers to setting fire to 24 high schools and sending more than 300 police officers to the hospital. French intelligence told the prime minister it was "an operation organised" by Jean-Luc Mélenchon's hard-left party, and one of that party's mayors told reporters "violence can be legitimate." A year after Emmanuel Macron recognized a Palestinian state for what he reportedly called domestic political reasons, the Palestinian flag is flying over school barricades even though Palestine isn't in a single student demand.
