FREE masterclass: Create An Organized & Purposeful Life

Hi Moms!!! Today I am tackling MEAL PREP! I know this is not everyone’s favorite topic, but it is a very important one that, using the tips I talk about in this episode, might make it not be so bad after all!

I know you are all so busy, so I am all about keeping it SIMPLE. But in order to make this happen, you have to schedule time for meal prep and for grocery shopping. You need to look at your schedules and carve out a day per week, or a day every 2 weeks where you can get your big shopping done. Then if you need a couple of small things during the week, maybe your husband or an older child could pick it up for you.

When putting your groceries away, putting the new items in the back and bringing the older items to the front is a good way to make sure your food doesn’t go to waste. If you have fruits and vegetables that are going to go bad soon, juice them or freeze them and use them in smoothies. Also, having your fruits and vegetables washed and cut up, in the fridge ready to go, is a huge time saver for later in the week on those busy days.

How to Practice Stewardship in Your Home Oct 11, 2022
    Show notes

FREE masterclass: Create An Organized & Purposeful Life

I love today's topic: Practicing Stewardship! I think stewardship is one of the most beautiful things in the world. The Bible says we are to be stewards of this world. We are responsible for managing what God has given us. He has given us so much and put so much in our hands. It is amazing! And most importantly, He has placed His trust in us.

It is important to ask yourself, "Am I being a good steward with all that God has given me? With all the blessings, with all the things I have prayed for?" Maybe you've prayed for your first home, a new car, a spouse, or children to fill your home. So now when you look at your life, and look at all the things that God has given you and answered your prayers with, are you showing God that you are a good steward with these things? This is a very powerful question to ask yourself because if you're not, should God bless you with more? If you're not able to appreciate and take care of what you have already received, should He give you more? What would you do with more?

One way to become a better steward is to shift your mindset from ownership to one of management. The thought of managing things compared to owning things changes everything. It is such a different perspective. You move away from not just being the owner of a home but the manager of a home as well. And as a manager or steward, you start asking yourself, what would God want me to do with this home, this car, or this family? And how would God want me to treat this? Instead of holding onto things you no longer need, you start to look for ways to share them. You invest in what He has entrusted to you and has given to you. This may be a completely different outlook on life than you may have had before.

Stewardship to me is showing God that I am grateful for the things he has already made me responsible for, the things He thinks I am capable of taking care of. Being a good steward also shows God that I can handle more. I know and I trust myself to be a good steward with what comes next and what other additional blessings God has in store for me. This is how I want all of you to feel.

Practicing stewardship is not always easy and is not always convenient but it is imperative if you want to be a person that lives on purpose. What would a good steward of the things you have look like? Tune in to hear the questions you can ask yourself to see if you are being a good steward with what you have now, and the 4 steps you can take to become a better steward.

This is a topic I am super passionate about. For more information on practicing stewardship, check out Chapter 7 in my newest book: Make Room!

    Show notes

Okay moms, so your kids come home at the end of the school year, or from camp, or at the start of the school year, well okay, let’s face it, all year long, with all that stuff! All those papers and projects. What do you do with it all? You need a system in place to tackle these items as they enter your home, so piles don’t end up on your kitchen counter or your kitchen table that you have to keep moving around, adding stress to your already stressful lives.

How Does Clutter Affect Your Health with Julie Barton Jul 21, 2022
    Show notes

How does clutter affect your health? Has this question ever crossed your mind? Please welcome our guest, Julie Barton, author of the book, The Clutter-Health Connection, as she unravels the impact clutter could be having on your physical and mental well-being.

It’s not just about wanting your house to look beautiful so you can have people over. It’s about being healthy in your space. Feeling like you can do what you need to do without feeling the oppression or claustrophobia that can come with having too much stuff in your space.

Clutter in your home is an ongoing stressor that you can’t escape. When we are under a lot of stress, our cortisol levels rise. When these levels stay high for an extended period of time, we are going to start having physical health issues. The clutter can also affect your mental health as well. It may be causing you embarrassment or shame. It may be causing you to lose sleep, feel depressed, or over-eat. It can cause fogginess in your mind. There are countless health effects both mentally and physically that this clutter could be having on you.

If you don’t think your clutter is causing you stress, find a cluttered area in your home and stare at it for 5 minutes. Write down how you feel. Then clean up that same area and organize it, remove the excess, and put everything in its home. Now be in the space for 5 minutes and write down how you feel.

Clutter is a huge energy drain. It is a never-ending narrative in your mind telling you, you should do this or, you should do that. You feel exhausted in your own space. Your clutter is telling you that you don’t follow through on things, you don’t complete tasks. Over time you start believing this. You start to feel like a failure.

Even though it is so hard at times, it is worth putting in the effort to feel the healthful benefits; being able to breathe, and not having your stuff be another thing on your list to manage and take care of. And when we are constantly letting stuff dictate how we feel every day and dictate our thoughts and energy level, we have very little to put into our everyday life. We are not being intentional. We are being a slave to our stuff and that is not any way to live.

Organizing Tips for the Baseball Mom Jul 10, 2022
    Show notes

OK, are you a baseball mom? If so, this is the episode for you! I have been one for over 17 years and I can't wait to share the organizing tips that keep me sane!

This post is for you sisters of the game! Although it will also be useful for moms who spend a lot of time traveling for other sports with their kids.

I will start with a little bit about my background as a baseball mom...

I started getting into baseball when my high school sweetheart, now hubby Josh, played and I got roped into being the scorekeeper because spring was a season I personally sport free because I was busy as a dancer. After high school, Josh went on to play college baseball up until he was signed to play with a professional team in Canada. (ironically Josh's Grandpa was a Canadian that got signed to play pro ball in the US).

So I was watching a lot of baseball before our son Bryceton was even born! But on February 28, 2005, it was revealed to me that I would most likely be watching way more baseball when our son Bryceton was born.

So it began, the games, Josh coaching multiple teams, the tryouts, the travel and now this summer is the busiest of all. The summer before senior year.

We will be living out of our suitcases most of the summer so I thought I would share what I have learned and how I stay organized in hopes of helping the next moms coming up into this world of baseball.
