    Make It Plain MIP with Rev. Mark Thompson

    The Rev. Mark A. Thompson has spent most of his life as a political, civil rights & human rights activist and organizer. He not only has been a part of every major social justice movement & event over the past 40 years, he has also been a radio broadcaster for three decades, and he has spent over 10 years as a television commentator, as well.

    Rev. Mark hosts Make It Plain (MIP), a political, human rights and breaking news podcast. Rev. Mark’s lifelong social justice activism intersects with his years of experience broadcasting the news and issues of the day. Newsmakers, politicos, policy-makers, entertainers and athletes alike make MIP a frequent sojourn.In 2021, MIP was named among Best Civil Rights Podcasts, Best Human Rights Podcasts, Best Podcasts About Social Justice and Best Broadcast Television Podcasts.

    Rev. Mark was honored at the 104th Annual NAACP Convention in Orlando in July 2013 “for 25 years of crusading journalism and outstanding leadership in furthering the work of civil and human rights.

    Rev. Mark, is a Morehouse College Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers 2023 Inductee.

    Trump Lost. Vote Suppression Won. Here Are The Numbers… Jan 27, 2025

    • 4,776,706 voters were wrongly purged from voter rolls according to US Elections Assistance Commission data.
    • By August of 2024, for the first time since 1946, self-proclaimed “vigilante” voter-fraud hunters challenged the rights of 317,886 voters. The NAACP of Georgia estimates that by Election Day, the challenges exceeded 200,000 in Georgia alone.
    • No less than 2,121,000 mail-in ballots were disqualified for minor clerical errors (e.g. postage due).
    • At least 585,000 ballots cast in-precinct were also disqualified.
    • 1,216,000 “provisional” ballots were rejected, not counted.
    • 3.24 million new registrations were rejected or not entered on the rolls in time to vote.

    Dr. Maulana Karenga is the creator of the PanAfrican cultural holiday Kwanzaa and the Nguzo Saba--(The Seven Principles) and author of the authoritative text entitled Kwanzaa: A Celebration of Family, Community and Culture.

    He is professor and chair of department of Africana Studies at California State University—Long Beach. He is chair of the Organization Us and the National Association of Kawaida Organizations. He is Executive director of the African American Cultural Center and theKawaida Institute of Pan-African Studies. Dr. Karenga is co-chair of the Black Community, Clergy and Labor Alliance (BCCLA). Dr. Karenga is also the author of numerous scholarly articles and books including:

    •Kawaida and Questions of Life and Struggle

    • Maat, The Moral Ideal in Ancient Egypt: A Study in Classical African Ethics

    • Selections from the Husia: Sacred Wisdom of Ancient Egypt

    • Introduction to Black Studies, 4th Edition

    Dr. Karenga s the subject of the book by Dr. Molefi Asante entitled: Maulana Karenga: An Intellectual Portrait.

    Dr. Karenga he is currently writing a major work on Haji Malcolm X entitled: The Liberation Ethics of Haji Malcolm X: Critical Consciousness, Moral Grounding and Transformative Struggle.
