    Season 2, Episode 12: What is a Village Apr 07, 2019
    Show notes

As moms, we strive to create a 'mom village', that supportive community of neighbors and friends to occasional cry with, vent, and assist with children when you're in a pinch....We ask, need and yearn for it, with arms wide open. Sometimes, the arms feel heavy from waiting so long, and so we retreat. Maybe, it's too abundant that we treat because it's too much to sort out (maybe?). It takes a village to raise a child, and it cannot be done alone. That moment of vulnerability ...Is it me? Am I stuck up? Am I too proud? Am I not a village to others but yet, desire my own? More questions than answers to sort and process. What does your village look like? Do we have high expectations for them?

Season 2, Episode 11: The Empty Nest Life Mar 31, 2019
    Show notes

Topic: Enjoying the Empty Nest Life and Preparing for College. Motherhood is a lifetime journey and we often joke about the mothers of teens as a mom who is "almost at the finish line." Meaning, they are close to the freedom of child rearing. Hopefully, the fruits of motherly/parental labor manifest as they become morally sound, independent adults (by society standards). For some, this transition for a mother can be a overwhelming experience. How does one successfully navigate the college transition and empty nest lifestyle? We will discuss this topic with our guest Momologist.

Guest Momologist: Tracy Hamilton Ramos has been a trial attorney in the Dallas area for over 25 years. Her biggest joy and accomplishment, however, was raising her daughter who is currently a junior at Duke University. After spending years researching the college admissions process to help her own daughter, Tracy created Get The Admit, a consulting company that helps other students and their families navigate college admissions. Through Get The Admit, Tracy has helped students gain admissions into colleges including Duke, Harvard, Spelman, UT Austin, University of Virginia, Norte Dame and others ... and to do so honestly and with integrity.

Help as many students as possible save time, stress and money as they navigate this crazy process to get into the college of their dreams!

    Season 2, Episode 9: Self-Care Sabotage Mar 10, 2019
    Show notes

Self care is a buzz word that inspires one to do what makes them happy via a form of escapism. The term is miscontrude as a means of tangential reinforcement--pedicures, extra chocolate, 'treat yo'self'= meaning over-indulging/over-spending!! The question begs: When does self-care become self-sabotage?

Season 2, Episode 8 The Right Kind of Black Woman Mar 03, 2019
    Show notes

You've studied hard, and have found yourself at a decent job. You've accepted the work environment may not be "diverse". However, we continue the work grind battling the microaggressions and curious questions surrounding your culture. In these spaces, POC becomes a generalized voice of their people, which is unfair, and constantly towing a line of two identities--being your authentic self and the acceptable/non-threatening 'get along' coworker. Is the paycheck worth the cussing out of co-workers? We'll discuss what this looks like in the workspace as we try to be the Right Kind of Black Woman.

    Momologist of the Week:

Faye McCray is an author and essayist whose popular essays on love, life and parenting have been featured in the Huffington Post, My Brown Baby, For Harriet, Madame Noire and other popular publications. She is the Editor-in-Chief and Co-Founder of Weemagine, a website devoted to celebrating and inspiring all children and the people who love them. Faye is also the author of Dani's Belts, a collection of horror short stories, Boyfriend, a full length novel about a troubled college student struggling with love and fidelity, and I am Loved! a collection of positive affirmations for kids. When Faye isn't writing, she is leading a covert double life as an attorney and married mother of three beautiful young boys. She also teaching creative writing workshops for kids and teens in around Maryland. Faye is a native New Yorker by way of Southeast Queens and current resident of the D.C. Metropolitan Area.
