Another week - Another episode! We recap the Psychic Spectacular and how we did with the event. Will having 2 new Dex entries be enough to carry the event? Adam thoroughly enjoyed the event, especially the encounter pool and the Inkay evolution mechanic, while Ken felt that there were plenty of Shiny Pokémon to hunt, even if there wasn’t anything new.

The October Community Day decision has the Community worked up as Duskull is one of the oldest Shinies in the game. With Shadow Ball as the exclusive move, it won’t make an impact on PvE or PvP metas either. This leads into a conversation about what the Community wants and expects from Community Day vs what Niantic hopes to accomplish. Plenty to talk about here!

Fashion Week will be coming next week and the event is looking to be exciting. From Furfrou with changeable forms to new costume Pokémon, there will be a ton to do during the event. That is however, unless you are not interested in costume Pokémon, like Adam. Time will tell if the event has enough to carry positive momentum through the end of the month.

Finally we put together a Raid Guide and Battle Party for the Lake Guardians. While all 3 Legendaries are Psychic Types, there stat spreads and movesets will make them all feel a bit different to battle. As for counters, it is possible to create a party that can be used for all three, making your counter selection pretty easy. Mega Pokémon are becoming more and more prominent in Raid Counters, so is it time that everyone finally buys into the Mega Mechanic?

We have had a lot happen in the game since we last recorded! The Season of Mischief is underway and we are learning the vanilla spawn pool as we go. One week in to the Season and we have already had two events. The introduction of Hoopa was a bit lack luster as it required just about no effort at all. It tied in to the Incense Day Collection Challenge, but many completed it so quickly that they were left searching for motivation to continue playing.

Next up we had the Psychic Spectacular, which brought us a new spawn pool as well as the debut of Inkay and Malamar. Time will tell if Trainers care more about event volume than quality, as the first two events of the Season don’t seem to pack a punch.

Details have been released for the rescheduled 2020 Safari Zones with events returning to Liverpool, Philadelphia, and St. Louis. The Event features will be the same for previous ticket holders whether they play on location or at home. Many in the community are upset that additional tickets will not be available for purchase, however it is important to remember that this is a make up event.

Finally we Poke The Bear with a discussion on what everyone is thinking now that they have had some time to digest Niantic’s announcements. The general vibe did lean towards optimism, however many thought that the messaging was just hollow words. It is clear that actions will speak louder to the Community than words. The ball is in Niantic’s court.

With this being a very important week for Pokémon GO and its community, there is plenty to discuss. We begin with the response from Niantic, which came via blog and was penned by Executive Producer, Steve Wang. He explains what was learned and what will be acted on based on the findings from the Task Force meetings. All in all, this was very positive and a step in the right direction.

We follow up with a complete retelling of the second meeting we had with Niantic, where a TON of information was shared. From how the Task Force was divided into teams, to Code Yellow, to the Creator Group, we are very excited to share all of the details. Some of this news and topics have never been discussed previously.

After the break we dig into the news like the wrap up of the Ultra Unlock and the onset of the Season of Mischief. This was an important week for both Niantic and their users. With everything on the table, the Trainers had an opportunity to have their voices heard. We dig into the details of our meeting with Niantic and members of the Task Force. From accessibility to transparency, there was a lot to talk about and we were pleased with the results. We left feeling confident about the future and can honestly say that we saw a difference in Niantic’s approach to the topic.

Meeting aside, we recap our experiences with the Ultra Unlock 3 before digging into the September News. The Season of Mischief is coming and we will finally have the opportunity to encounter Hoopa! While there wasn’t a lot of news items this week, there is still plenty to talk about. With the wrap up of the Ultra Unlock Part 2 and the current Part 3, there is a lot going on in the game. That is however, if you plan on engaging with it. You will find out pretty quick that while Ken is still optimistic and out there playing, Adam is still letting the game take a back seat as he waits for the September 1st announcement.

Eevee Community Day was last weekend and you can tell that player count and spending were down. While the event was strong and the Special Research was the best ever, we just aren’t sure how the community is really feeling about things. The rest of August will be an interesting time for sure.

We dig into the Ultra Unlock 3 and build out some Zacian Battle Parties. With this being the non preferred form of the Legendary, we will have to see how the community reacts. Finally, we wrap things up with a discussion regarding our upcoming meeting with Niantic. We are bringing a bunch of Trainers from different disciplines of the game to share feedback. We are not throwing away our shot!

With GO Fest in the rear view mirror, trainers are reaping the fruits of their labor with Part 1 of the Ultra Unlock. We discuss how the event is going for us and if we think the community is feeling a little tired since GO Fest. Either way, we are enjoying the Raids, Spawns, and features of the event.

Niantic has shared details of their August event rundown and we still do not know what will be coming for Part 3 of the Ultra Unlock. The other weekly events like Spotlight and Raid Hours are also a blank! We speculate on what we think is to come, but of course you know that Adam is ready to confirm Shaymin.

In a major issue within the community, as Niantic’s anti cheating software may have inadvertently banned a whole bunch of innocent Trainers. With the community in an uproar, including German Creator Spieletrend, Niantic stepped out of character and released a statement. Niantic states that they will be working to reverse some of the inappropriate bans, however for some Trainers, it may be too little, too late.

With GO Fest behind us we recap our experiences from each day of the event. From casual passive gameplay to hardcore grinding, this year’s big event could be enjoyed in many ways. We both agree that Saturday was amazing, however Adam had some reservations about Sunday. As for Ken, Sunday provided a new and unique community based experience.

Trainers completed the 24 Challenges that were required to activate all three parts of the Ultra Unlock. Niantic has shared details of Parts 1 and 2, however Part 3 is still a mystery. The Ultra Unlocks will bring us well over a month of overarching in game events, which will ride out through August.

FInally, we discuss a recent Niantic post in the Wayfarer forums, which details some new plans and goals from the Wayfarer Team. This is particularly exciting, as Wayfinders have been desperately seeking additional support and transparency.
