Even more interesting is that for couples that are committed to working things out, 86% of them that discuss the betrayal thoroughly end up staying together. But is a formal disclosure the right thing for you or your relationship? Not every situation or relationship is created equal. In this episode, we discuss the dos and don'ts of navigating a formal disclosure. How you can know if you're ready for a disclosure and if a disclosure would benefit your relationship.

    Show notes

Reconnecting intimately after sexual betrayal can be difficult and scary. When trust and safety have been broken it's nearly impossible for intimacy to exist. However, there is a process of reestablishing trust and safety in a way that can create space for vulnerability and intimacy to be reintroduced. In this episode, therapist Karen Strange joins the podcast to discuss the process of intimacy reintegration. Karen is one of the founders of the Center For Sexual & Relational Health. She brings a unique combination of training and experience as she is both a Sex Therapist and a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist. She will discuss how intimacy is much more than sex and why that's so important for couples to understand. She will also outline the crucial steps that need to be taken before a couple is ready to begin reintegrating intimacy into their relationship.

You'll also learn which one of these responses is actually the most traumatizing.

    Live intentionally May 14, 2020
    Show notes

Whether we realize it or not our minds seek out distraction to avoid difficult thoughts or emotions. Some call this "numbing out." Keeping a busy schedule, always being on the go, or turning to social media and technology to keep our minds occupied. Over the past couple of months as our schedules have slowed and social connections have been distanced we're finding ourselves alone with our thoughts. And for a lot of us, it's been extremely difficult. So how do we face these difficult thoughts and emotions? How do we process these thoughts so we can slow down to live intentionally?

    Show notes

We're in a difficult time. We're trying to make sense of the new topsy-turvy world we're living through during this pandemic. For a lot of us, we're finding ourselves isolated with no escape and it's taking a toll on our happiness and mental clarity. This is especially difficult when you're already trying to navigate the complexities of a difficult relationship. When you don't feel connected to your spouse/partner and you can't take a break from the kids how do you cope and not go crazy? Jeni Gessel and Dr. Kevin Skinner will discuss some things they're seeing with their own clients and what they've found to be the most effective way to create time for self-care. Time to breathe and think and feel connected with yourself again. This is so important as we're stuck in isolation.

This episode is perfect for you if you’re looking for a deeper more purposeful version of self-care. The kind of self-care we’ll explore is less about bubble baths and working out and more about what we need in order to feel the way we want to feel.
