Bobby Witt Jr. torments the Chicago White Sox, but losing is an opportunity to get a player like him May 08, 2025

Show notes

Bobby Witt Jr. continues to dominate the Chicago White Sox, but that is fine as the Sox do not want to win too many games but winning more than the Kansas City Royals in 2018 cost them a chance to draft him. So, while it is frustrating to see the White Sox lose so many close games, it is fine if they land a top pick in the 2026 MLB Draft, which is deep with players who can be impact players like Witt Jr.

Host Todd Welter also discuss how prospect Braden Montgomery might already be that guy, but it would be nice to have another promising prospect to pair up with him much like the Royals have with their top prospect, Jac Caglianone. He also dives into how the Sox winning more than the Royals helped them get Witt Jr. in the 2019 draft and passing on Jac Caglianone in last year's draft also helped their division rival.

Todd then goes over how it feels like the front office is now just trolling the fan base by recalling Nick Maton rather than call up Tim Elko. Finally, he discusses two valid criticisms for how the Sox ninth-inning rally fell short.

The Chicago White Sox comically lose as GM Chris Getz's bullpen-building failures continue to haunt May 07, 2025

Show notes

While Chase Meidroth made a comical error in during the team's ninth inning implosion, it is the lack of a closer that keeps costing this team victories. Cam Booser just could not nail down a victory with the White Sox losing 4-3 to the Kansas City Royals. You can point to the general manager, who can even find one guy to get three outs in the ninth.

At least pitchers Sean Burke and Shane Smith have been great in this series. That still provides hope of better days ahead. Finally, it is a Wayback Wednesday going over how things did not out great for a promising prospect group in 2019.

Loving Edgar Quero being a stud, Luis Robert Jr being a force, and the White Sox beating the Astros May 05, 2025

Show notes

The Chicago White Sox took the weekend series over the Houston Astros due largely to rookie Edgar Quero playing like the young stud every fan has been waiting for. Luis Robert Jr. also played a big role in the Sox winning on Friday and Sunday.

Host Todd Welter discusses how Quero, along with rookie Chase Meidroth and revived Luis Robert Jr. are bringing hope of better days. Although Robert Jr. is providing hope by increasing his trade value as Todd discusses why LRJ has to be traded rather than paired up with those two young players for the rest of the decade.

Then weak-hitting Jacob Amaya continues to survive the latest White Sox roster shake ups. Todd goes over why it is fine the White Sox are already giving up on Bobby Dalbec and pitcher Penn Murfee but should also stop using Amaya.

Finally, it is Monday, so Todd gives a minor league report on how top prospects Braden Montgomery, Hagen Smith, and Grant Taylor impressed.

Miguel Vargas, Luis Robert Jr., and Sean Burke find redemption in Chicago White Sox victory May 02, 2025

Show notes

Three players vital to the team's short-term and long-term success had impressive performances in the Chicago White Sox 8-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Miguel Vargas continues to be on a heater, Luis Robert Jr. drove in four runs and prevented four runs with an amazing grand-slam robbing catch, and pitcher Sean Burke was impressive like his four-game cameo last season and his Opening Day start.

Then rookie infielder Chase Meidroth has returned from the 10-day IL at the best time possible. Finally, Jake Burger's demotion by the Texas Rangers still does not mean the White Sox didn't lose the 2023 midseason trade with the Miami Marlins. It is another example of what the team should be doing with Andrew Vaughn, who is struggling worse than Burger.
