LOCKED ON SUNS 10/25/18: What will it take to see more of Bridges, Okobo and Melton? Oct 25, 2018
    Show notes

On today’s episode, we discuss the reasons for low minutes totals for Mikal Bridges, De’Anthony Melton and Elie Okobo thus far in the young season.

Bridges has statistically been a huge boon for the Suns’ efficiency each time he has stepped on the floor, but coach Igor Kokoskov insists he wants to use him only as a spark off the bench. What gives?

Okobo and Melton, on the other hand, were inactive against the Lakers as they made way for Jamal Crawford to see his first extended run of the year. Is there any chance they see the floor soon?

LOCKED ON SUNS 10/24/18: LeBron's Lakers cruise to easy victory over Suns Oct 24, 2018
    Show notes

The Lakers defeated the Suns 131-113, but it wasn't even that close. Many warning signs showed through, but we tried to also take away some positives as well.

Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton did well, Booker left with a hamstring injury, but nothing else around them worked outside of Mikal Bridges.

Will Igor Kokoskov finally change the rotations after another blowout?

There definitely will need to be something happening moving forward with a brutal stretch of games coming up.

LOCKED ON SUNS 10/23/18: Standouts and disappointments through three games Oct 23, 2018
    Show notes

On today’s episode, we break down the Suns’ 1-2 start by highlighting the team’s most and least valuable players so far this season.

T.J. Warren has been far and away the most impressive Sun over three games, but who else has stood out?

And on the other side, it’s been tough not to be disappointed in Ryan Anderson’s start to the year, but there has been plenty of bad to go around.

LOCKED ON SUNS 10/20/18: An uneven performance in 119-91 loss to Nuggets Oct 20, 2018
    Show notes

On today’s episode, we recap the Suns’ 119-91 loss to the Denver Nuggets, which wasn’t as terrible as the score would indicate.

Between poor shooting, poor transition defense, too many turnovers and foul trouble for Deandre Ayton, there were plenty of issues for the Suns on Saturday night.

But most of the problems were fixable — stuff that a good coach can fix and hardworking players can overcome. We talk about the difference between struggling and growing in our recap.

LOCKED ON SUNS 10/18/18: Next-day thoughts on Mavs/Suns, and we catch up with Jeff Siegel of UPROXX and Forbes Oct 18, 2018
    Show notes

On today’s episode, we reconvene to break down the Suns’ big win over Dallas and catch up with Jeff Siegel of UPROXX and Forbes on what’s new this year with the Suns.

Going deep on Phoenix’s performance on Wednesday night, we talk to Jeff about what changed for the Suns with Devin Booker at point guard and how Deandre Ayton looked on both sides in his NBA debut.

Then, Jeff’s perspective on Ryan McDonough’s firing and how the Suns move forward.

Finally, each of us throw out one leaguewide takeaway from the first two nights of NBA games, including the Pelicans blowing out Houston and Dennis Schroder’s debut in Oklahoma City.

LOCKED ON SUNS 10/17/18: Suns win 121-100 in season opener as Booker, Ayton, Ariza, Jackson, Warren put it all together Oct 17, 2018
    Show notes

On today's episode, Evan and Brendon are live from Talking Stick Resort Arena following the Suns' impressive season opening victory.

Not only did Devin Booker not have any rust to the tune of 35 points, but Trevor Ariza had a near triple-double while Deandre Ayton looks 100% like the real deal.

Also, how about T.J. Warren and Josh Jackson connecting on 3/4 3s each? Everything was coming together for the Suns on Wednesday night, including 35 assists (!!).

Plenty of positives to take away from this outstanding opener, one that will be remembered for a long time in Phoenix.

LOCKED ON SUNS 10/16/18: Last-minute season predictions with Max McCauley of the 7SOL podcast Oct 16, 2018
    Show notes

On today’s episode, we throw out some big predictions on the eve of the regular season, with the help of Seven Seconds or Less Podcast’s Max McCauley.

First, it’s back to the drawing board on all-in trade targets who could propel the Suns to the winning team they want to be, from Kevin Love to Damian Lillard.

Then, the chances Devin Booker makes his first All-Star team, facing stiff competition from the likes of Lillard and Klay Thompson in the Western Conference reserves.

Finally, some last-minute standings predictions as we finish off our season preview here at Locked On Suns.

LOCKED ON SUNS 10/15/18: Jamal Crawford in, Shaq Harrison out, plus we break down the rotation Oct 15, 2018
    Show notes

On today’s episode, we discuss why Jamal Crawford doesn’t make a lot of sense as the stopgap guard the Suns have been looking for, then predict how the signing affects the Suns’ rotation early in the season.

Crawford hasn’t been a team’s full-time point guard at really any point in his career, and he’s 38. Defense has never been a strength for him. Where does he fit in Phoenix?

Plus, why T.J. Warren’s transition to power forward clears things up in the rotation, and whether Dragan Bender has any role at all after a frustrating summer of basketball.

LOCKED ON SUNS 10/12/18: James Jones speaks Oct 12, 2018
    Show notes

On today’s episode, we discuss the James Jones press conference Friday morning, and whether it really changes anything for the Suns.

Jones was tight-lipped about any major changes that could be coming, sticking to a surprisingly similar rebuilding script to the one Ryan McDonough used for five years. Maybe #TheTimeline lives on.

Finally, we close by discussing the shocking visit between free agent guard Jamal Crawford and Suns brass today at Talking Stick Resort Arena, as reported by Cronkite Sports’ Justin Parham on Twitter. (Hint: This makes no sense)
