Steelers' Jalen Ramsey or Joey Porter Jr. to Be New Leader in Secondary? | Ready for AFC North QBs? Jul 11, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Jenna Harner WPXI-TV.

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their leader in the secondary in Minkah Fitzpatrick, but will that role fall to Jalen Ramsey, Joey Porter Jr., or DeShonn Elliott? Christopher Carter and Jenna Harner explore that question and how the Steelers continue to invest in the potential leadership of Porter for the future of their defense and franchise. Also, have the Steelers improved their defense enough to be ready for another season against the competitive quarterbacks of the AFC North? Last season ended with losses to Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens and Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. But considering they beat both teams in 2024, what do they need to improve against them in 2025?

Why Steelers' 2025 Moves DON'T Signal Mike Tomlin's Last Season | Omar Khan Front Office Philosophy Jul 10, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Josh Taylor of KDKA-TV.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made several big moves including Aaron Rodgers and Jalen Ramsey, but does that signal it's Mike Tomlin's last season? Christopher Carter and Josh Taylor argue that's not the case, and that both Omar Khan and Tomlin are putting together a string of moves that's still focused on a long term plan with Tomlin in the fold. Also, Chris and Josh take your questions from the Locked on Steelers call-in line, including questions about Tomlin's responsibility in playoff losses whether Omar Khan must change some of the organization's front office philosophies that have stood the test of time.

Steelers' Most Expensive Defense an Overhyped Narrative? | Who Fixes Defensive Communication Issues? Jul 09, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com.

The Pittsburgh Steelers project to have the most expensive defense in the NFL again in 2025. But Christopher Carter and Alan Saunders explain why that's an overhyped narrative, and that how much a team pays for certain positions is more of a cycled process and indicative of the team's efforts to keep star players like T.J. Watt and Cam Heyward. Could the Steelers soon see a flip to paying offensive players moree? Also, Chris and Alan take more of your questions, including how the Steelers fix communication issues without Minkah Fitzpatrick as Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay Jr. enter the secondary. Finally, could Slay make a move to free safety?

Steelers' Zach Frazier, Broderick Jones, O-Line Key to Aaron Rodgers' Impact, Offensive Development Jul 08, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive line is the biggest factor to the 2025 season, more-so than new additions like Aaron Rodgers, D.K. Metcalf or Jalen Ramsey. Christopher Carter and Nick Farabaugh discuss why Broderick Joneees, Isaac Seumalo, Zach Frazier, Mason McCormick and Troy Fautanu are the most important to the team's chances this season. Chris and Nick discuss how the offensive line could be the difference maker for Rodgers to return to a better version of himself than we saw when he was with the New York Jets, as well as if Jones should consider a different position switch than just left tackle and if Darnell Washington should switch to the offensive line.

Steelers' Big Trades/Signings Don't Cancel 2026 QB Draft Plans | Joey Porter Jr. Still Starts at CB Jul 07, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made plenty of big moves from signing Aaron Rodgers to trading for Jalen Ramsey and D.K. Metcalf. But Christopher Carter still thinks the biggest focus of Omar Khan and the front office is to find their franchise quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft class. A recent NFL Mock Draft from ESPN's Matt Miller had the Steelers select South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers, one of Chris' top prospects for next year. Could the future of a Super Bowl window for the Steelers be closer than many believe? Also, Chris answers your questions from the Locked on Steelers call-in line, including whether Joey Porter Jr. is still a starting cornerback with Ramsey and Darius Slay Jr. in the fold, and whether the Steelers could be called "a dream team" with all of their moves.

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' trade for Jonnu Smith bolstered the tight end position and passing attack. How can Smith team up with Pat Freiermuth and DK Metcalf to boost Aaron Rodgers' passing attack? Christopher Carter explores that, and Omar Khan's contract extension that shows the team's approval of his moves. Also, Chris answers more of your questions like why T.J. Watt hasn't gotten a better offer from the Steelers yet, whether the pass rush will be elite this season, and if the Steelers should trade for Romeo Doubs.

Steelers' Jalen Ramsey Trade a Good Sign T.J. Watt Contract Extension | Omar Khan's Aggressive Moves Jul 03, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.

When the Pittsburgh Steeleres made a trade for Jalen Ramsey, it was because they think he'll pair with the Steelers' top defensive weapons, and that includes T.J. Watt. Christopher Carter explains why that adds up to a likelihood that Watt will sign a contact extension to come before the season begins and what that might do for the Steelers' defense as Ramsey complements Watt and the pass rush.

Also, Chris takes more of your questions from the Locked on Steelers call-in line on the Steelers' front office research, how aggressive Omar Khan has been in his early years as a general manager, and more.
