Chris Parson is the bell cow for the 2023 FSU recruiting class and it seems as if the writing is on the wall when it comes to him ending up in Tallahassee come signing day. The fellas at Locked On Seminoles are here to give their thoughts on the matter on your favorite Florida State Seminoles daily sports podcast.

With it seeming as a matter of if and not when in regards to Chris Parson's decommitment, what does this mean for the staff? Is it a symptom of lackluster recruiting or simply just another piece of evidence when it comes to Mike Norvell and handling the QB room? Afterwards, the fellas look to the positive as the offensive line is on the verge potentially adding Jaszton Turentine, a vital depth piece from the University of South Carolina.

Lastly, the fellas take a question from the listeners and look to see how the current makeup of the 2022 roster would fare against last seasons schedule. Would the teams improve overall in the win column and if so how much? Would there be any games that may be flipped from a win to a loss, and how would the team end up overall with a new makeshift roster? "Let Him Loose": FSU's Jammie Robinson on preseason awards list & how the Seminoles offense can support Jordan Travis Jun 17, 2022

Show notes

Phil Steele’s All American and All-ACC selections are out and Florida State has representation on not one but both of these lists and the fellas here at Locked On Seminoles, your favorite daily Florida State Seminoles sports podcast, is her and ready to give their thoughts.

First, Jammie Robinson is the lone representative for the Noles on the pre-season all American list after a quality first year with the Noles. While the fellas think this is already deserving, they explain why they think that this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the talented Defensive back leading DBU this upcoming 2022 season.

Further on, the fellas have All-ACC representation on both sides of the ball with some familiar faces and even a representative form the special teams unit, I know Dave was as shocked as we were when special teams got a shout out. Dave explains why Alex Mastromanno may actually be potentially the most game changing punter in the conference, why he is pleasantly surprised to see Oregon Transfer Mycah Pittman on the list and who he thinks was not only a surprising snub, but someone he thinks could play themselves onto the list at season’s end.

Wrapping up today’s show the fellas look towards the strongest position groups on the team as well as the position group that may be the most surprising. Why does Drake think that the big fellas in the trenches may shock some and actually potentially be in the top of the conference with their play, why both of the guys feel the running backs are going to run up and down on their opponents and why Dave is going out on a limb and stating this is finally the year that the linebackers show us something.

All this segues great into what needs to happen around Jordan Travis for him to hit that strangely daunting, but truly attainable 3000+pasing yards season. Who in the wideouts needs to step up? Is another player not often mentioned need to finally breakthrough? Does Mike Norvell finally need to get out of his way and let Jordan loose on opponents. All that and more on today’s episode!

As always, we like to thank each and every single one of you for making Locked On Seminoles your first listen each and every single day. We thank yall so much for the love and support and we’ll see ya next time!

2022 DT Ayobami Tifase Picks Florida State, Is It All About Money? Miami Under Investigation Jun 15, 2022

Show notes

Florida State Football finds a stroke of much needed recruiting moment landing 2022 DT Ayobami Tifasi. Is this just further proof that Odell Haggins still has a long career ahead of him? The guys break down what this commitment means for Florida State and discuss Coach Odell Haggins' future.

Next, Max and Dave talk about another recruit from recently promoted to 3-star Quindarrius Jones. Jones is an athlete that projects to play defensive back in college. It seems like the staff might have gotten in early on an under the radar prospect. However, Max and Dave cant help but ponder if the Noles will be able to hang on if the SEC gets involved in Jones' recruitment. This begs the question, will money be all that matters in the new landscape of college football or can FSU still compete with brand power and prestige?

Finally, they discuss Miami being under investigation by the NCAA. They explain how the NCAA could still enforce rules against boosters paying recruits despite student-athletes now being allowed to profit off of their name, image, and likeness (NIL). While the guys wouldn't hate to see Miami in trouble, Max issues a direct warning about the the implication of the NCAA's actions.

"Third Impression": How FSUs matchup with LSU can shift perception across CFB Landscape and State of Florida recruiting Jun 08, 2022

Show notes

You only get one chance at a first impression. What if we told you that's a lie and in fact you can get a second and third? Well, the boys here at Locked on Seminoles your favorite daily Florida State Seminoles daily sports podcast, are here to talk about just that on today's episode.

Today, Dave & Drake talk about the importance of the Week 1 Labor Day weekend matchup with the LSU Tigers. What would a statement win do for Mike Norvell in the eyes of not only the fanbase but also the national media as a whole? Would a loss be the final nail in the coffin or simply just what we've come to expect from this squad?

Also, recruiting the state of Florida is a large reason why Florida State was a force to be reckoned with ion the 90s. Now, with the lack of recruiting the very hotbed they call home, what does FSU need to do to get back on track here on the home front. Additionally, is it too late for FSU to be back on the top of in-state recruiting or will even just solidifying themselves in Florida be enough to push the back towards the promise land.

Will DJ Williams Be Missed? Florida State Running Back Enters Transfer Portal Jun 03, 2022

Show notes

Florida State Seminoles' running back DJ Williams has officially entered the transfer portal. Originally a transfer from Auburn, DJ Williams was seen as a potential upgrade at the power back position when La'Damian Webb left FSU two years ago. The guys often talked about Williams' potential if he could stay healthy and had strong expectations for him. However, Max and Drake are not concerned by the early end to his FSU career. They believe that this is a positive indicator for the running back room. The duo posits that other running backs Treshaun Ward, Lawrence Toafili, and Trey Benson playing better than expected could be the catalyst for DJ's decision to enter the transfer portal.

As always, thank you for the love and support. We get to do what we love because you keep coming back. We appreciate you and hope to see you next week for more Locked On Seminoles!

Has FSU Coach Mike Norvell Done Enough?; Keeping QB Chris Parson, and Softball Coach Lonni Alameda May 31, 2022

Show notes

Max and Dave continue their conversation about whether Mike Norvell inherited a dumpster fire, and assuming he did, whether Norvell has done enough relative to other coaches nationally who took over their teams at the same time. Dave isn’t so sure Norvell truly inherited a dumpster fire; but Max and Dave agree that, while Norvell has corrected the culture and has things headed in a better direction, he's woefully underperformed nevertheless.

Max and Dave also talk about the tricky QB recruiting situation and debate whether it would be better to shut down QB recruiting if it meant keeping Chris Parson, or to target multiple QBs and elevate the depth of the QB room.

Finally, the guys discuss the rumor that Texas A&M is trying to poach FSU Softball Head Coach Lonni Alameda, and question whether FSU must do whatever necessary to hang onto Alameda, notwithstanding the athletic department’s renewed commitment to football.

As always, thanks for making Locked on Seminoles your first listen each and every day. We thank y'all for all the love and support and hope you enjoy the show.

Is D'Mitri Emmanuel a Game Changer for FSU Football? 2023 QBs Brock Glenn & Rickie Collins Offered May 27, 2022

Show notes

Alex Atkins has officially landed Charlotte offensive line transfer D'Mitri Emmanuel. Emmanuel is a highly-rated offensive guard that played for Atkins at Charlotte in 2019 before Atkins joined the Florida State staff under Mike Norvell.

The guys break down how he fits in with other transfers Bless Harris, Kayden Lyles, and Dillan Gibbons, and what kind of impact having more depth at guard could mean for the development of youngsters Maurice Smith and Julian Armella.

Next, the guys discuss Mike Norvell and QB coach Tony Tokarz offering two more QBs from the 2023 class in 3-star Brock Glenn and 4-star Rickie Collins. Glenn shined at a recent Elite 11 Regional earning an invite to the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles.

Last year, there was a controversy when 2023 Seminoles commit QB Chris Parsons seemed to make it clear he did not want the staff to recruit other quarterbacks in his class. However, the guys breakdown why he has probably changed his tune a bit.

"Best Case Scenario": Destyn Hill's impact for FSU & what Jordan Travis needs to do to take another leap for Florida State May 25, 2022

Show notes

What is more likely to happen? A Bigfoot sighting out there in the wild or Destyn Hill finally stepping foot on campus. The fellas answer that question today on your favorite daily Florida State Sports podcast.

Today, Dave and Drake discuss what they are hearing on Destyn Hill. The talented wide receiver out of Louisiana has been the talk of each recruiting class since the end of the 2021 cycle but the smoke and rumors are all pointing to him finally making his way to Tallahassee. What will he bring to this offense? How will he gel? Can he make an impact being nearly a year and a half removed from football?

Then, the boys state what they believe would entail a best-case scenario for QB1 Jordan Travis under center for the 2022 college football season. Is it so much to ask for Jordan to pass around 2500 yards at the Power-5 level? Will he even have the weapons around him and the offensive line to help him attain that goal? What would a fully healthy season for JT13 look like for this team? What games can turn the tide of the season if Jordan Travis finally takes that step and supplements his elite running ability with a solid passing attack.

As always, we here at Locked On Seminoles thank each and every one of you for listening to todays episode. We hope you enjoy the show and don't forget to subscribe!
