The Florida State Seminoles hope to land 5-star recruit Zaquan Patterson, and soon. Breaking down the latest information with one of Florida State’s biggest remaining recruiting targets, that’s the crux of this podcast.
The safety is the last of the elite Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna players to make his college announcement, and I’ve learned that’s about to change.
To be clear, no specific date has been released by Patterson. Still, look for that decision to come soon and there are multiple reasons – discussed within this podcast – to believe that Patterson is strongly considering the Noles to be his college choice.
Directly related, FSU’s already incredible defensive back class with KJ Bolden, Charles Lester, CJ Heard, and Ricky Knight also links back to Florida State’s glory days as “DB U.” Elite players like Deion Sanders, Leroy Butler, Corey Sawyer, Antonio Cromartie and Terrell Buckley all have played for the Garnet and Gold. They were a major part of a dynasty in Tallahassee. This group of defensive backs can help lead the Noles back to when FSU's secondary was elite almost every season.
Finally, this episode will be a breakdown of How FSU’s current cornerbacks, like Renardo Green and Fentrell Cypress, have a huge task ahead of them with the LSU Tigers coming down to Orlando to take on the Seminoles.
Statistically, when LSU’s rushing attack was minimized last season, a big part of that would be teams like Florida State, Tennessee and Georgia doing an excellent job at cornerback, especially in critical moments. The key against LSU, slowing down star wide receiver Malik Nabers (see the prior episode for even more about this future NFL prospect). Thus, the rest of the defenders could focus more on slowing down the LSU rushing attack.
It’s a jammed pack episode kicked off with recruiting news and a backend discussing the upcoming FSU versus LSU matchup. Check it out!
