Nets bench nearly gets the job done against the Bucks, fall just short Mar 10, 2023

Show notes

The Brooklyn Nets played short-handed against the Bucks on Thursday, but put up a huge fight, taking the game down to the wire. Patty Mills turned back the clock, Cam Thomas hit some clutch shots. But it just wasn't enough.

Doug Norrie takes a look at the game and how the Nets handled things with the starters and Mikal Bridges especially. Did they leave a win on the table by seeming to surrender early? Even on the front end of the back-to-back, is this how it should have gone?

A contrasting look at franchise construction with Kane Pttman from Locked On Bucks Mar 09, 2023

Show notes

Adam Armbrecht and Kane Pittman cross over for a conversation about the chaos of the superstar era in Brooklyn, and if the new look Nets could see the Bucks in the post-season. The NBA has seen different paths to constructing contenders, and the Milwaukee Bucks are no different. The sent multiple-first round picks and players in a four-team deal to bring Jrue Holiday in and added Brook Lopez through Free Agency. At its core has been a nine year pairing between Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kris Middleton, who was acquired via a 2013 sign and trade with the Detroit Pistons that did not cost the Bucks a treasure trove of assets.

The guys discuss the "boring nature" of covering a franchise always in the championship hunt, but that is rarely in the headlines and how personalities are often an overlooked component when chasing rings.

They also look at the roller-coster ride for Nets fans and there is a sense of optimism going forward. The Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving trades ended thee "championship era" for Brooklyn but has also provided a potential new beginning with Mikal Bridges as the center-piece. Kane and Adam close out touching on potential "big changes" that could come for a team in the Bucks that is by no means old, but certainly has some age(and injuries) on its roster as they look to capitalize on another deep playoff run.

Mikal Bridges is becoming a superstar. Nets beat Rockets for third straight win Mar 08, 2023

Show notes

The Brooklyn Nets walked into Houston on Tuesday and took care of the Rockets with relative ease. But the big story, once again, was the rise of Mikal Bridges who’s been a 50/40/90 guy since joining the team and is already looking like a superstar in the making. He dropped another 30 points in this one and the guys discuss his ceiling going forward. Plus they talk Spencer Dinwiddie’s game and wonder what the heck is happening with Cam Thomas.

The Locked on Nets guys talk about a move like this for the Nets this late in the season, and what it means for other guys on the roster like Ben Simmons and Day’Ron Sharpe. Mikal Bridges continues to open NBA eyes leading the Nets on the court and in the locker room Mar 06, 2023

Show notes

Mikal Bridges was the sticking point for Sean Marks as the Kevin Durant trade to Phoenix was being discussed ahead of the NBA trade deadline. If you didn't know why at the time, you certainly do now. Mikal is currently on a 50/50/90 line from the field, beyond the arc and at the line.

Following an incredible come from behind win over the Boston Celtics on Friday night, Bridges and the Nets came out dominant against the Charlotte Hornets. This is a bad opponent with a bad record, and the Nets treated them as such. Mikal Bridges showcased the all around game, and exhibited a trait often reserved for superstars, elite midrange ability that overrides the analytics of todays three-point NBA.

In what continues to be a roller coaster season for the Nets, Mikal Bridges is giving fans a thrilling ride!

What a win! Mikal Bridges and the Nets mount a massive comeback in Boston Mar 04, 2023

Show notes

The Nets came out sluggish in this game, falling down 30 points in the first half. But on the back of Mikal Bridges, team defense, and some well-timed plays, they pulled off one of the best comebacks in the NBA this season. This was one of the best come-from-behind victories in Nets' history and it was against a team in the Celtics that have really had Brooklyn's number. Doug Norrie breaks down the win, how the Nets were able to come back, the play of Mikal Bridges, the moves by Jacque Vaughn and more.

The Nets don't know who they are as a team, get crushed by Knicks Mar 02, 2023

Show notes

Mikal Bridges, Spencer Dinwiddie, and the Brooklyn Nets went into Madison Square Garden to face the Knicks, and promptly got crushed. This game felt over almost before it had started with the Knicks dropping 47 points in the first quarter on their way to the blowout. Cameron Johnson put up 33 points, but it wasn't close to enough.

The Locked on Nets guys look at the game, but more importantly, look at why this has been such a frustrating stretch for the Nets. It isn't just the blowouts, but also the recognition that this team just doesn't know who it is now that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are no longer here.

The Locked on Nets guys break down the game, the performance on both ends of the court and what to make of this game overall.

Should Cam Thomas be a starter for the Brooklyn Nets? Feb 28, 2023

Show notes

Cam Thomas has improved dramatically at the offensive end this season and has, in many ways, had a breakout campaign this time around for the Brooklyn Nets. But what should his role be going forward? Should he be in the starting lineup and if so, who would be replacing?

The Locked on Nets talk about the situation surrounding Thomas and does his role on the team signal what the plan is moving forward? The guys land on a solution and also bring up some interesting stats surrounding his recent performance and especially since the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving trades.

Trae Young buzzer beater hands Brooklyn another loss, as Nets continue to search for consistent play Feb 27, 2023

Show notes

The Brooklyn Nets lost again, this time on a mid-range buzzer beater from Trae Young. While the new roster performed better in this contest, they still failed to put together a consistent performance across four quarters.

Adam discusses the lengthy defensive starting unit that failed to close out on perimeter shooters in the first quarter while also struggling with their own looks from the outside. The back court remains a subject of conversation as well, with Spencer Dinwiddie's final stat-line covering up what was an uneven performance from the veteran PG.

This leads to looking at three key players that Jacque Vaughn needs to sort out in short order. Cam Thomas put together a strong game off the bench, with his attacking ability on full display but Seth Curry and Joe Harris provided little in their combined 13 minutes of action.

Adam notes that if the playoffs are the goal this season something has to give around veteran players getting opportunities while contributors like Edmund Sumner and Yuta Watanabe remained iced on the bench.
