Mikal Bridges struggles continue, Nets crushed by Knicks Dec 21, 2023

Show notes

Mikal Bridges struggled shooting on the Nets West Coast trip and things didn’t get any better on Wednesday against the Knicks. Bridges had one of the worst shooting games of his career, going 4-21 and finishing with 15 points. It was a brutal performance and a big reason the Nets couldn’t hang with the Knicks at all.

The Locked on Nets guys talk about Bridges recent struggles, the overall problems with the team through this stretch and how we could see some starting lineup changes coming.

Should the Nets trade for Donovan Mitchell? Dec 20, 2023

Show notes

The hot stove is heating up on Donovan Mitchell and the possibility that he could be traded out of Cleveland at some point this season. The Cavs are dealing with injuries to Darius Garland and Evan Mobley; plus Mitchell might not fit their overall timeline.

Should Brooklyn be in the mix here for Mitchell and what would it cost to bring him in? They likely have the pieces

Show notes

The Nets closed out the West Coast road trip going 1-4, losing to the Utah Jazz on Monday night in what ended up being a moderate blowout.

The Locked on Nets guys break down the game and the Nets recent struggles.

Game Day Preview: Cam Thomas and the Nets look to end West Coast Trip with a win over the Jazz Dec 18, 2023

Show notes

Lauri Markkanen and the Jazz represent a very winnable game for the Brooklyn Nets. Following a disappointing loss to Steph Curry and the Warriors, the Nets can head home with a 2-3 west coast record if they can get the Monday night win.

The guys highlight the injuries and rotations for Utah, which show a team playing balanced minutes rather than leaning into a "best players play max minutes" mentality. Brooklyn will also need to right the negative net-rating for the current starting unit of Mikal Bridges, Cam Thomas, Spencer Dinwiddie, Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton - especially with a bench unit missing both Lonnie Walker III and Dennis Smith Jr.

Has Cam Johnson been a disappointment this season? - Bonus live episode Dec 18, 2023

Show notes

Cam Johnson signed a multi-year contract in the off-season, but this year hasn’t quite lived up to increased expectations so far. The Nets wing has struggled with some injuries but also seen a decline in rate stats nearly across the board.

The Locked on Nets guys discuss Johnson’s play so far and what it’s meant for the team. Was this to be expected or is there room for upside still in Cam Johnson’s game?

Schedule Loss? Nikola Jokic and Nuggets crush Nets in Denver Dec 15, 2023

Show notes

The Nets were on the second half of the back-to-back on Thursday after getting a big win in Phoenix. This time they were in Denver to face Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets. It was a tough task and Brooklyn struggled from the beginning. They couldn’t contain Jokic and couldn’t hit any of their shots, especially at the basket.

Between the opponent and the altitude, this was an uphill climb for Brooklyn and ultimately, the game got away late.

Nets beat Suns! Massive win for Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson in return to Phoenix Dec 14, 2023

Show notes

What a win! The Nets rolled into Phoenix to face Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal in their first game all in a Suns’ uniform. Brooklyn walked away with the W. Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson made their returns to Phoenix and were instrumental in the victory while clutch performances by Spencer Dinwiddie and Cam Thomas helped seal things.

Jacque Vaughn used some different strategies in this one and the Nets were able to win one of their most impressive games of the season.

Game Day Preview: Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson return to Phoenix to take on Devin Booker and the Suns Dec 13, 2023

Show notes

The guys discuss the early season injuries for the Suns, including Kevin Durant, which have left Phoenix looking mid-table at 13-10. Bradley Beal may not be a super star but combined with Devin Booker, represent the exact backcourt tandem the Nets have struggled with defensively.

The Locked On guys also look at Cameron Johnson's underwhelming "next step" after signing a big offseason deal, and if a return to his old stomping grounds could further spark his strong December.

The betting lines, parlays and picks are all up for discussion as well!
