With Kyrie Irving back, should the Nets be all-in for free agency and this season? Jun 29, 2022

Show notes

Now that Kyrie Irving has opted into the player option for next season, and knowing Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons are in the mix, should the Nets approach this free agency and off-season with an all-in mentality? They discuss John Collins and recent rumors about the Hawks power forward/ center. Should the Nets be targeting him in a trade? What are some of the other options as free agency looms?

Kyrie Irving is staying with Kevin Durant! Picks up option to remain with Brooklyn Nets Jun 28, 2022

Show notes

Kyrie Irving shocked a lot of people on Monday when he, somewhat out of nowhere, decided to pick up his player option for next season, opting to return to the Brooklyn Nets. After rumors he would opt out and was seeking a trade, Irving reversed course and decided to remain with Brooklyn for at least another year beside Kevin Durant. It’s a (hopefully) very positive set of nets for the Nets who were going to be in somewhat dire straits if Irving decided to opt out and sign with another team this off season. The Locked on Nets guys look at what happened with Irving here, why there was a seeming 180 in terms of his decisions and what it means for the team.

Nic Claxton drawing free agent interest? Future as a Net in doubt Jun 24, 2022

Show notes

Could Nic Claxton be on the move come free agency? Recent reports suggest other teams will have some interest in the young center this summer and that could spell big problems for Brooklyn. Doug Norrie takes a look at the situation with the recent news out of Houston that the Rockets could offer Claxton more in free agency than the Nets are willing to pony up. It could mean issue with the team's frontcourt. Should the Nets prioritize signing Claxton this off-season and should they just make every monetary effort to make sure he's back on the team.

Chris Barnett from HoopSpaces talks winning with Nets stars, Sean Marks mistakes and young talent Jun 23, 2022

Show notes

An absolute blast of an episode as Adam welcomes in Chris Barnett from HoopSpaces to talk Brooklyn Nets basketball! After getting a little outside perspective on the wild offseason around Kyrie Irving, Adam and Chris discuss the impact the NBA Finals will have on the league going forward. There is more than one way to win a title, but a key element remains building talented depth to sustain success.

The Nets have three stars on the roster, and Chris highlights the ways in which Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons can fuel the offense at pace. The discussion then turns to the rookies this past season, where much of the focus is on the mismanagement of Cam Thomas and the role he is best suited for going forward. Adam also brings the NBA Draft to the table, where he and Chris align on why keeping draft capitol until draft night is preferred and if a player like Ron Harper Jr. could be an option for the Nets.

Could Kyrie Irving actually force the Nets into a sign and trade? Jun 22, 2022

Show notes

While it all might be posturing, there is at least some concern the contract negotiations between Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets don’t progress this offseason and the team is left in a very tough spot. The Locked on Nets guys take a look at three proposed sign-and-trade destinations for Irving and whether any of them are realistic/ palatable? It’s not a great landscape. There’s a look at the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the New York Knicks.

Plus, at the end, the guys discuss whether they’ve been viewing the situation only really from one side and discuss what Kyrie Irving might be bringing to the table in a contract negotiation based on what transpired last season.

Nets and Kyrie Irving stall in negotiations. Could he leave Brooklyn? Jun 20, 2022

Show notes

A report came out on Monday that the Brooklyn Nets and Kyrie Irving had reached an “impasse” in contract negotiations and there was now a feeling that Irving could begin exploring other options on the market. Whether it’s just posturing or a real sign that the two sides are very far apart is difficult to tell. Whatever it means, if the Nets and Irving weren’t able to reach an agreement, Brooklyn would be hard-pressed to find ways to bring on the same kind of talent this off-season. The Locked on Nets guys discuss this news, what it means for the two sides, how it all could play out and what to keep an eye out for both short and long term.
