Buster Posey finally addressed a lot of the questions surrounding the San Francisco Giants, and his comments touched on everything from the bullpen to Bryce Eldridge to whether this organization is quietly heading toward a rebuild. Posey defended manager Tony Vitello, backed the Giants’ bullpen construction despite criticism, and pushed back hard on the idea that the front office punted on improving the roster.
He also addressed the viral moment involving Willy Adames joking around during games while the team struggles, making it clear that everything gets amplified when a team is losing. But the most interesting part of the interview may have been the uncertainty around Eldridge and Trevor McDonald. Posey repeatedly emphasized “day to day” evaluations, leaving the door open for difficult decisions about development, roster construction, and how aggressively the Giants are truly trying to compete right now.
With the Giants now falling 10 games under .500 for the first time since 2019, we break down what Posey’s comments really mean — and whether this organization is trying to thread the needle between competing now and building for the future.
