LOCKED ON COLTS 4/4/19: What prospects PFF loves + Why is T.Y. Hilton so underrated with Austin Gayle of Pro Football Focus Apr 04, 2019
    Show notes

On today's episode of Locked On Colts, Pro Football Focus' Austin Gayle joins to discuss plenty revolving around the Indianapolis Colts.

    - Why did PFF have the Colts selecting JJ Arcega-Whiteside at 26 in their latest mock draft, plus assessments on him

    - Gayle loves the Colts' signing of Devin Funchess and believes an accurate quarterback like Andrew Luck, who is now entering his prime years, will maximize his talents

    - Justin Houston was a great signing as well, per Gayle, and believes other teams pursuing a championship run (Patriots, Rams) should've been interested

    - Why is T.Y. Hilton so underrated in national circles? Gayle believes he's a bonafide No. 1 receiver

    - Early thoughts on Frank Reich in Year 1

    - Is Gayle a fan of the model GM Chris Ballard is using in Indianapolis?

    - Who are some prospects he likes more than others, plus ones who should be in play for the Colts in the 26-34 range

    - Gayle believes the Colts are in prime position to trade up in this year's draft for an elite pass rusher from the outside or inside. Prospects like Ed Oliver and Brian Burns check many of those Ballard boxes

LOCKED ON COLTS 4/3/19: Prospects Colts fans should keep an eye on with Connor Rogers of Bleacher Report Apr 03, 2019
    Show notes

On today's episode of Locked On Colts, Evan is joined by Bleacher Report's Connor Rogers to run through some more opinions on the 2019 Draft.

Before we got into all of that, though, I asked Connor, a Jets fan, about last year's Quenton Nelson-Sam Darnold trade. Is that the first true win-win trade near the top of the draft in years? Sure seems that way.

Then, I ask for Connor's "crushes" of this draft, which included Florida State EDGE rusher Brian Burns. Indianapolis has reportedly met with Burns, and Connor wouldn't be surprised if they moved up for him.

How does this year's safety class look? Connor says Colts fans should be ecstatic with the latest news of Taylor Rapp running a slower than expected 40-yard dash. Also, quick notes on names like Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Johnathan Abram.

Well, how about that defensive line group? Keep an eye on Christian Wilkins and Jeffery Simmons at 26, Connor says.

Finally, I asked Connor's thoughts on the Colts' 2018 draft class and what to expect with the AFC power rankings next season. If you didn't know, Connor let us in on why Nelson was his No. 1 prospect last year over Saquon Barkley and why his addition singlehandedly changed the direction of the franchise.

LOCKED ON COLTS 4/2/19: 2019 NFL Draft takes with @JayVeeThree Apr 03, 2019
    Show notes

On today's episode of Locked On Colts, Evan is joined by another Colts fan: James, or @JayVeeThree as you might know him on Twitter. He's an interesting follow who brings insightful takes, so I brought him on the pod to discuss who he likes in the upcoming draft.

Before we dove into all of that draft goodness, I surveyed his thoughts on last season -- how important the 2018 draft class was alongside the upgrades in coaching and running this franchise -- plus his overall thoughts on Indianapolis' moves so far in free agency.

James has been banging the drum for the Colts to draft someone like T.J. Hockenson or Noah Fant if they land at 26, which is seen as hot-takey by some due it not being a position of need. I asked why Colts fans should get familiar with this year's tight end group, as well as which ones he would take outside of the aforementioned Iowa duo.

Finally, we run through his favorite prospects that could be off the board to Indianapolis within the first three rounds.

How will the Colts attack their biggest needs on draft night? We examined that thought while also debating prospects. This was a fun one you won't want to miss out on.

LOCKED ON COLTS 3/29/19: Justin Houston breakdown with Seth Keysor of The Athletic Mar 29, 2019
    Show notes

On today's episode of Locked On Colts, Evan is joined by Seth Keysor of The Athletic. Keysor, who covers the Chiefs with in-depth film breakdowns, discusses why the Justin Houston signing was a huge one by Indianapolis.

    - Keysor notes that Houston was reportedly frustrated with his role in KC's defense, far too often dropping back in coverage

    - Did the Colts make the right decision signing Houston for 2 years, $24 million instead of trading a future pick for Dee Ford?

    - How will Houston fare in the Colts' 4-3 scheme? Expect plenty of 'Houston is back' commentary

    - The Colts have improved their defense while the Chiefs might have regressed. What does that mean for the AFC?

    - Patrick Mahomes versus Andrew Luck is setting up to be the AFC's best QB rivalry since Brady and Manning

    - Who at this moment is the better team: Indianapolis or Kansas City?

All of that, plus more, in this episode so don't miss out!

LOCKED ON COLTS 3/28/19: Ohio State beat writer Dan Hope on Terry McLaurin, Parris Campbell and Tyquan Lewis Mar 28, 2019

On today's episode of Locked On Colts, Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors joins Evan to discuss plenty of topics.

    - How does hometown kid Terry McLaurin translate to the NFL, and how was he used at Ohio State? What's McLaurin's ceiling within the Colts' system?

    - Parris Campbell is electric with the ball in his hands. Who are some players in the NFL who compare to him from a usage standpoint? Would Campbell's burst be the perfect median between T.Y. Hilton and Devin Funchess?

    - What does Dan remember from Tyquan Lewis' tenure with the Buckeyes before Chris Ballard traded up for him? In 36 games as a full-time starter, Lewis recorded 34 sacks. How will Lewis fare moving inside to DT?

    - Finally, some closing thoughts on Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins. Should teams in need of a signal-caller feel comfortable with Haskins as the face of their franchise for the next decade?

Also, we go over today's news of Florida State EDGE rusher Brian Burns reportedly meeting with the Colts multiple times. Could the Colts be in a position to trade up?

The announcement of joint practices during training camp between the Colts and Cleveland Browns happened today, too. That should provide plenty of fireworks in Westfield, Indiana in August, to say the least.
