Show notes
The Houston Astros offense is showing a major identity shift early in the 2026 season, and it’s changing everything. In today’s Locked On Astros, we break down how Houston’s rise to 2nd in MLB in pitches seen (933) and the jump to 3.90 pitches per at-bat is proof this lineup is becoming more patient, selective, and dangerous.
We dive into the huge drop in swing rate from 36.5% in 2025 to 31.8% in 2026, why the 3-0 count spike from 3.8% to 5.6% is creating more baserunners and RBI chances, and how hitters like Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, Isaac Paredes, and Christian Walker are benefiting from better count leverage.
If you’re looking for Houston Astros analysis, Yordan Alvarez updates, Hunter Brown breakout talk, Mike Burrows reaction, Astros plate discipline stats, and 2026 Astros season predictions, this episode has you covered.
