    Show notes

Episode 374 - Analee Vinyard - Helping women, and children find healing and freedom
    My Message is HIS Message

Analee’s story is one of faith’s triumph over tragedy, the sufficiency of God’s grace and strength in our weakness, and the discovery of the overwhelmingly tender love of our God. When Jesus, the Author, and Finisher of our faith enters in, tragedy, grief, and brokenness will not have the last word.

Today, remarried and enjoying a happy and stable marriage and home, Analee embraces the legacy of her mother Alma, following in her footsteps, ministering love, hope, and encouragement to others.

My goal is to help women, children, and anyone find healing and freedom. Ultimately, this is my heart's mission and my mother's legacy to carry forward. For years I have envisioned myself as a bridge for those who've been through similar heartaches and hardships. Today, I am able to combine my language and translation skills with my love for the Hispanic kitchen and food to minister to others. These activities can be therapeutic, helping others find freedom and healing from their past. As Jesus was often found sitting down and dining with those who were considered "the lost," and welcoming those who were considered "the least."

I've been able to partner with local charities and charitable organizations, bringing my love for baking and cooking to a widening audience, sharing my skills, but more importantly, sharing the love of God with people who desperately need HIS embrace and HIS LOVE.
At the close of one of our church’s services, I went forward for prayer. A friend of mine named Jungu, a real prayer warrior prayed over me.

“God is calling you to a charitable ministry,” she said. I wondered; What kind of a ministry might this be? A pastor on the prayer team immediately had a word for me.

“You know exactly what you are going to be doing,” he said. “God knows and you know. You are going to be leading, helping, and setting people free.”

Another time we prayed, Jungu prophesied over me: “God has a plan. You will have these charities—more than one—through which you will serve and help women and families and you will give them a word from the Lord.”

Like before, this all sounded wonderful. But how could this be?

It was on a Thursday night—September 3, 2015, to be exact—that Jungu prayed over my love life. “Analee has lost so much, Lord,” she began. “She’s had to go through so much. You know who she is! You love her! You’ve heard her cries! You know her heart!”

I knew all these things were true. Still, it overwhelmed my heart to hear my dear friend plead on my behalf. “Lord, I pray that you will not only give back to Analee all that she’s lost, but double! More, Lord! Give her more in a man, and in life, than she asks for or even imagines possible!”

In my heart, I was hopeful but hesitant. I don’t know about all this, Lord. Maybe you could just provide a man who … loves me?

One week later, I met Joel.

    Show notes

Episode 373 - Christi Cossette - Jumpstart Your Journey, Putting Yourself First and Rules To Live By

The most important relationship is with yourself. Are you really putting yourself first?

Putting yourself first goes against what women are taught. We are natural nurturers focused on caring for those around us, often putting others’ needs before our own. We are told to shrink back, be small, don’t take up too much room. Don’t be too loud, too thin, too fat, too tall, too short, the list goes on. It seems its impossible to ever be good enough to meet society’s standards. Especially because it keeps changing.

If you spend your life bowing to the opinions, needs and desires of everyone else, you risk losing yourself in the process, never reaching your God given potential and perhaps worst of all, you don’t serve anyone in your life or family well, because you’re too exhausted and confused to do anything well.
    You’re in the Right Place…

Grab My 20 rules to live by checklist!

This checklist of my 20 Rules to Live By, will help you figure out your big priorities, shifts you can make, setting better boundaries, be more successful and just LOVE your LIFE more! If you live by the majority of these rules, I believe you’ll be more successful and it’s just a great way to SHOW UP.

    Show notes

EPISODE 372 - Brigitte Franzen - Have Pigs Will Travel, Farming and Agriculture in the US from a German Perspective - Memoirs of a young, female immigrant turned hog farmer
“Have Pigs, Will Travel” is based on a true story. It is the unlikely tale (some may say preposterous story) of a young German woman who moved to the United States in 1980 by herself, made friends and established a successful livestock farm, against all odds. I hope this book will appeal to women who have overcome great obstacles to establish their careers, as well as young women who might find encouragement to follow their dreams. But most of all, it may appeal to anyone who is ready to enjoy some wild story telling.

E367 - Michael Gross - Spillage is a wickedly fun throwback to a chaotic time in New York May 17, 2024
    Show notes

EPISODE 367 - Michael Gross - Spillage is a wickedly fun throwback to a chaotic time in New York
It’s 1976, and the Big Apple is in sorry shape. Besieged on all sides, the city has become a graffiti-coated, garbage-filled, crime-ridden cauldron, teetering on the edge of total collapse. Adding to New York’s towering woes, a revolutionary group called the Satanic Vanguard has kidnapped the mayor, set fire to Coney Island, and threatened further mayhem. All that Gotham has to hope for are its resurgent Yankees, who’ve come back from the dead to reach the World Series by riding the arm of their quirky rookie phenom Nick “The Swan” Spillage. But Satan and his Vanguard plan to snuff that hope out too, they’ve targeted a young couple to help with their diabolical scheme.
The rock and roll-loving pair—Joan and Eliot—came of age in the late 1960s when the counterculture peaked. They’ve lived together in New York’s East Village for eight years, making sweet music on the subways while their beloved city crumbled around them. Then, in shades of the Faustian musical Damn Yankees, Joan develops an obsession with The Swan and makes a deal with the Devil to capture his heart. Meanwhile, Eliot wrestles with what it means to preserve his own soul as he makes a valiant effort to win her back and save the day.
Spillage is a wickedly fun throwback to a chaotic time. At its heart, the novel is a love story and a search for identity in a world that’s gone off the rails.
Michael Gross began Spillage in 1976, the year the story takes place, while working as managing editor of Fiction magazine, teaching and earning his MfA at New York’s City College. He also has a BA from Trinity College and an MBA from NYU, and was the recipient of a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship. In 1978, he embarked on a forty-five-year career in crisis communications, culminating in his serving as CEO of Finsbury (now FGS Global). He is married, has three children and three grandchildren, and divides his time between Brooklyn and Fire Island.
