A Resource to Ask For, Part 1 Dec 03, 2025
    Show notes

When you're out of answers and can't hang on, Chip reminds you: God is with you in your darkest circumstances, offering a resource to help.

The principle = “Don’t ask why, ask what.”

    Three “what” questions survivors ask:

    1. What can I control when my world falls apart?

    2. What must I do to make it through today?

    3. What hope do I have for tomorrow?

The answer = God’s sovereignty + goodness = He will take my worst circumstances and use them for my best if I will trust Him and not bail out of His spiritual maturity process.

    I. The problem: sometimes we get “stuck” in our pain.

II. The solution: God promises help for those who are “stuck.” -Jas. 1:5-8

    • God’s offer = supernatural WISDOM
    • Our responsibility = to ASK
    • God’s attitude when we come = OPEN & GENEROUS

III. The one condition: We receive God’s wisdom only when we “ask in faith, without any doubting.”

Conclusion: Four things you must do to get unstuck

    1. Admit you’re stuck

    2. Admit you can’t do it on your own

    3. Ask God for supernatural wisdom

    4. Be willing to do whatever God’s wisdom demands of you

An Attitude to Embrace, Part 2 Dec 02, 2025
    Show notes

Hope sustains the soul when all falls apart. Find hope to make it through difficult times.

3 Observations about life in a fallen world

    1. Trials are inevitable

    2. Trials tend to “make us” or “break us”

    3. Victims fail to move beyond asking “why” and remain stuck in their pain

A word from God to those whose world is “falling apart.” -James 1:1-4

    1. What can I control? -My ATTITUDE

    2. What must I do to make it through today? -ENDURE

    3. What hope do I have for tomorrow? -God will take the WORST and use it for my BEST

How God uses adversity to mature us

    1. We're forced to DEPEND on God at a new level. Left alone, we're self-sufficient, proud, and insensitive to Him.

    2. We're WEANED from the temporal, urgent, and worldly affairs of life. We're forced to REEXAMINE our values, priorities, commitments, and future.

    3. Trials let us WITNESS God's reality and power first-hand. Our need becomes the vehicle of His grace; our problems the object of His power.

    4. They serve as a TESTIMONY to the unbelieving world. How we endure hardship shows the world how real God is.

    5. We become sensitive, caring, and compassionate CHRIST-LIKE people. Those hurt deeply tend to love deeply.

Turning Anger from a Foe to a Friend, Part 2 Nov 24, 2025
    Show notes

Tired of anger hurting relationships? Want to stop losing your temper? Chip shows it's possible to control your temper and even turn anger from a foe into a friend.

Introduction: How to make anger work for you

    • Anger is like a wild stallion out of control or under control.
    • Our anger holds powerful potential for good and evil; it must be harnessed!

    The A, B, C, Ds of anger:

    • Acknowledge the anger
    • Backtrack to the primary emotion
    • Consider the cause
    • Determine how best to deal with it

The practical process: How to deal with your anger

    1. At whom am I angry?
    2. What should I do?
    3. How do I deal with the situation?
    4. When should I deal with it?

God’s 3-step training method to bridle anger:

Step #1: “Be Quick to Hear”

    • Our immediate response to God, others, circumstances, and our anger is to be “receptive listeners” not “reactionary responders.”
    • Key Question: What is this anger telling me?

Step #2: “Be Slow to Speak”

    • Our interim response to God, others, circumstances, and our anger is to “think before we speak.”
    • Proverbs 10:19; 13:3; 29:20
    • Key Question: What must I do to prevent a “verbal reflex response?”

Step #3: “Be Slow to Anger”

    • Ecclesiastes 7:9
    • Our life changing response to anger begins when we replace “reaction” with “reflection.”
    • Key Question: What root issue is behind this anger? (ABCD Method)

    Summary:

    • Anger is a choice
    • Anger is a secondary emotion
    • It’s not wrong to feel angry, it’s what you do with it.
    • The A, B, C, Ds of anger

Why We all Struggle with Anger, Part 2 Nov 20, 2025
    Show notes

Your anger, instead of becoming your worst nightmare, can be your best friend. In fact, God wants to turn your anger into a tool that will serve you and help you like never before. Join Chip as he unpacks this powerful tool from God’s Word.

Introduction: Anger is a secondary emotion

    • It is easier to be angry than to face the deeper, more sensitive issues of anger.
    • Anger is not the problem. Anger is the red warning light on the dashboard – something under the hood is amiss.
    • We cover stuff inside that God wants to heal, forgive, and restore.

    Three root issues behind anger:

    1. HURT = Real or perceived unmet needs

    • Tool: “I feel….” Messages – Attack the issue not the person

    2. FRUSTRATION = Real or perceived unmet expectations

    • Tool: “I desire…” vs. “I demand….” Statements

    3. INSECURITY = Real or perceived attacks on my worth

    • Tool: Ask yourself, “Why am I feeling threatened?”

Summary: The first step in overcoming the destructive power of anger is the COURAGE to look below the surface.

    • Anger is the light on the dashboard; something’s wrong under the hood.
    • Anger is our way of protecting ourselves from painful, hard-to-deal-with hurts, frustrations, and insecurities.
    • Anger has many faces and despite its power for good, it destroys, unless we learn to…-Acknowledge it-Back-track to the 1st emotion-Consider the real cause-Determine to rightly respond
