Little by Little Homeschool – Christian Homeschooling and Motherhood

Do you wish you felt confident in your homeschool decisions instead of constantly second-guessing yourself? Are you overwhelmed by questions, pressure, and the many roles you carry as a homeschool mom?

The Little By Little Homeschool Podcast offers tactical and realistic encouragement to free you from the stress, pressure, and constant uncertainty that so many homeschool moms feel. You'll find practical guidance and mindset shifts that help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and peace.

Hi, I'm Leigh, a Christian wife and mom who spent far too many years trying to duct-tape my priorities together. I chased approval, tried to meet unspoken expectations, and navigated homeschooling without a clear foundation.

I finally realized that if I was going to fully embrace the life I had, I needed to operate from a place of peace and joy. That's when I planted my feet firmly where I was and began to create beauty, seek simplicity, and live intentionally.

If you are ready to love your life as a homeschool mom and to know with confidence that you are doing the right thing for your children–this podcast is for you!

Together, we'll dive into homeschool hot topics, practical adjustments, and mindset shifts that help you create a homeschool where both you and your children can flourish—little by little.

    295. End The Fighting And Change The Trajectory Of Sibling Relationships In Your Homeschool Family: Teach Your Children The Importance Of Strong Relationships Sep 26, 2024
    Show notes

Is fighting and arguing a regular occurence in your home?

Are you trying to maintain the peace in your home and encourage good relationships among your children?

Do you desire for your homeschool children to be the best of friends as adults?

Well, it all starts and ends with mom and dad. You get to choose what this looks like in your home during their childhood. Eventually, they will make their own choices, but those can be greatly affected by their upbringing.

I'm sharing from my own personal experience of changing the story when it comes to sibling relationships and how my husband and I helped to ensure great friendships among our children, all in today's episode.

    294. Public School Is All About Grade Levels But How Should Homeschoolers Approach It? Sep 23, 2024
    Show notes

    "What grade are you in?"

It's such a super common question in our society. Most people don't even flinch when they hear it. And kids in public school quickly give an answer.

But, if you've ever asked a homeschooler this question, some of them freeze like a deer in headlights. Others may slowly give a reply. Either way, it isn't a super prevalent question in the homeschool world.

What does this mean for the homeschool mom though? Today's episode is going to walk you through the meaning behind grade levels and give you lots of ideas on how to approach this with your homeschooled children.

Every day as a homeschool mom can be full with the regular to-do list, home education, activities, experiences, meeting personal goals, and so on and so on. This requires you to be fully present and on for all that is happening in your day.

But, with a full day and many needs to meet, it can easily and quickly deplete even the most energetic homeschool mom.

To be honest, I failed in this area of having enough energy each (or most) days for too many years. I didn't know what I know now. If I could go back, I would definitely want a do-over in this area because I can see how not having enough energy led to me being tired and grumpy.

Today's episode is all about 6 ways you can re-claim your energy and feel ready to take on the homeschool day!

But we can learn so much from each other. None of us will homeschool exactly the same way, but some of the best things happened in my homeschool when I learned from other moms.

Today's guest, Katie Hedrick from Joy at Home podcast is truly an encouragement to mothers. She and her husband felt the call to homeschool and made that big adjustment in their lives a few years ago. What if homeschool is also about learning how to navigate the world? I think many families are starting to realize this.

Sure, there is much to gain from curriculum, but kids are so open to learning and we can open the world to them by being intentional about teaching them life skills.

Most of us went to school and our days were filled up for all of those formative years. And then, poof...we were expected to navigate the real world. I remember feeling lost in so many areas because I hadn't been fully prepared for life out on my own.

But, as homeschool parents, we can use these years and the time we have with our children at home to teach them the ins and outs of of life.

I've got a jam-packed episode for you today. Grab a pen and paper and get ready to take some quick notes!
